And there was a smaller circle of lights the closer it got to the middle, all twirling around like a light show. It lasted about two or three minutes. My grandparents saw it too, and they can't figure it out. Now either my grandparents are related to Houdini, or it was an unexplained phenomenon. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Actually, that UFO looks very similar to one that crash landed in my backyard a while back......

Many years ago I was riding in a vehicle with 5 others. As we were going up a hill, a bright red light flashed over top of us, then came to a halt somewhere above and in front of us. How close?? I haven't a clue because it was a dark moonless night. We stopped the car, or rather the driver did and we all just sat and stared. Suddenly, 4 other green lights appeared coming from the horizons around us and streaked towards the red light, then stopped. They sat there for about 30 seconds, then slowly advanced and "melded", entered? or joined the red light. A couple of seconds later, the red light began moving away and up from us, slowly, then in about 3 seconds it streaked towards the heavens and disappeared.

And here's another one.
A friend and I were laying on our lawn looking up at the stars (we were about 8 years old).Suddenly I saw a moving point of light and thought it was a meteor and pointed it out to him. Then, we realized that it was going waaaaaay too slow. Then, it suddenly stopped, made a 90* turn and started moving slowly again, then another stop and 90* turn. It seemed to be making squares in the sky or working a grid. We watched it for about 15 minutes. The night was dark and we live in the far north where airplanes and helicopters were few and far between. It was definitely NOT a helicopter and it was not a satellite. This all happened before the Soviets even tried the Sputnik.

Sounds pretty wierd alright, but you must remember doing things with your other 8-year old friends, don't you??
Anyhow, that's only 2 of about a half-dozen "things" that have entered my life over the last 50+ years.
