Note: When updating your computer's BIOS, the update process fails if you use a floppy disk formatted in Microsoft® Windows® 2000, Windows NT®, or Windows XP. Instead, use a new IBM pre-formatted disk. Refer to Readme.txt file for more details.

Kool & Vader... thanks guys. I appreciate it.

Vader -- yep. It was IBM formatted... I did see that and thought that it may be the problem. It was a new Imation out of the box - IBM formatated. I declined when Windoze offered to format it for me.

Lastly... I understand that Promise is highly recommended but, unfortunately, CC, BB, nor CompUSA have such a card on the shelf. Considering that I really want to get this upgrade done TODAY, will THIS CARD be sufficient?

What is the perk to Promise?

Thanks Vader....

So, jumping backwards now...

I have already installed WinXP P on the 127 gb partition on one of the 300 gb drives. I guess I need to format that to snub that partition correct? Also, once formatted, just pop in the PCI card, load drivers (if necessary), and plug in the ribbons? I can run one master and one slave on that chain correct?

Promise is the leader in this field. Everybody else is a copycat.

When you need to update the bios on that card, or update the drivers, there will be current versions available for the Promise controller.

Those other ones........who knows?

That's it.

Just a personal bias, I suppose.

p.s. did you read the single review for that card? the bad points?

Yep... I've read the input. I believe I'm going to push pause on this network upgrade until next weekend. Maybe one night this week even...

We've got about 4 gigs left to use... that'd, easily, last us through December or so but, I want to get this off of my plate.

Thanks again guys...

You sure you ain't in IT?

Procrastination is the greatest asset an IT guy can have.

Can't tell you how many "critical" projects have come from a meeting and a brain fart only to lose steam a week later.
