I will tell you what really bothers me is when someone says:

"I seen a real nice truck." OR, "I seen a big buck in the field." OR "We seen about 7 elk but didn't get a shot."

That is what I corrected on the other sight after reading it over and over for years. I finally cracked and wrote: It's "We SAW....."

Nobody showed me any mercy.
Maybe there was no mercy because you made mistakes, too.

REAL s/b REALLY and sight s/b site.

Give it up LT. Here you go:

As you can imagine, I was an excellent student (out of necessity for my own safety) and it is understandable therefore that I carry such habits with me to this day.

While I understand that everyone makes mistakes, and I try to be accommodating, I do set a higher standard for myself and will correct mistakes I make, no matter how long ago I made them. Well, actually, not really. If it is more than a few hours I let errors slide because I don't really care by that point.

I openly give up.

Edit to add: I do use the words "than" and "then" correctly.

Are you sure you used enough "commas?"

I think so. One of the uses of commas is to indicate a pause between parts of a sentence. I used just as many as were required to make my point in the manner I wanted to make it.

By the way, place the question mark outside of the quotation mark.

Although it would be incorrect, if it will make you feel better I could write it like this:

While, I, understand, that, everyone, makes, mistakes, and, I, try, to, be, accommodating, I, do, set, a, higher, standard, for, myself, and, will, correct, mistakes, I, make, no, matter, how, long, ago, I, made, them, Well, actually, not, really, If, it, is, more, than, a, few, hours, I, let, errors, slide, because, I, don't, really, care, by, that, point,

Kobi, how many times have I told you? "If your going to dream, then dream big!"
I understand the theory of starting small, but some times you have to shoot for the stars! Worse case scenario you miss and hit the moon.

Maybe try to get everyone to exceed our 700 word +/- average vocabulary.......

I mean really, we have 100,000 members strong and yet we seem to have the collective vocabulary of an 8th grade girl with a mediocre IQ. Only about 3 members pull the average up. Dictionaries and thesauruses are our friends, what do you say maybe we all try to use them.

__________

See, with that rant, then if everyone does that, not only does the dialect increase and the dialog become more entertaining, then we also learn; then and than, your and you're, seen and saw, since and sense, etc etc etc.

If you're going to walk into a big battle like this, then take the big guns and hit them hard.

However, I could care less, I am fluent in many forms of communication, from formal to non-formal. Degenerate internet chatter is my native typing, so I guess you can call me bilingual.

I don't know what elementary school you went to, but with few exceptions the girls were better students than the boys. Hey, I'm all for sexist comments when they're true, but in this case such a comment is in error and uncalled for.

For me, this is an even bigger peeve than the "then/than" thing. If you meant to say "I COULDN'T care less" then I am going to fly to Missouri (pronounced "Missoura") and slap you upside the head.

WELL DONE!!!

You are correct. When used as a preposition meaning situated or moving beyond the boundaries of, then no "of" is required. There was a boy outside the door. It's one of those ugly colloquialisms (translation = lazy/sloppy) I am guilty of.

Here's my dinner:

Yes you are correct and girls do have better verbal skills than boys of the same age.

Doh, busted...

I'll share your dinner.

I've heard that you can Bar-B-Q it and it's not suppose to be very bad.

Also Missouri is pronounced Mis-ur-e' sometimes miz-ur-e', other times Misery, occasionally non natives call it Missoura. The later always really confuses me, how do they get "ah" out of "i". Guess it's like Bologna.... I just don't know.
