not sure exactly what your asking for, but if you made mulitple layers, you can only edit the layers that you have selected.

You can merge layers then select the new (merged) layer and make changes.

Let me know if thats not what you meant?

OK, I had to switch over to the Mac to try this out. Anyway, I drew something in Illustrator CS using the line tool (not even sure what I drew) and I tried to use the "paint bucket" to fill it in, after selecting all the lines and grouping them together as one. Lemme show you the error I got:

Thats when I noticed that the bucket is not a normal paint bucket like in MS Paint. It's a Symbol Styler Tool. That means you can only use it to style symbols, which is why I got that error. I am working on a way to fill in the shape I made, and if I figure something out, I'll let you know. Funny, I did graphic design for so many years, and with this new version of Adobe's products (CS and CS2) I can't figure out a LOT of stuff. Wish me luck...

you are going to have to make a selection, use the selection tool... then should be fine.

I've got a Mac and a PC set up on a KVM switch. I prefer the Mac for most everything, but there are some games and things I like to do that you cant get for the Mac. Hence the reason for both...

Well, you don't need that KVM switch any longer. Now that the Mac is on Intel, you can run both OSes on one machine. (Either by rebooting in Windows thru boot-camp, or switching between OSes on the fly without rebooting thru Parallels. (Which I am told runs just as fast as native - although I've yet to actually see it)).

So RUN (don't walk) to your nearest Apple store and get the new MacPro, and while you're at it get either the 23" or 30" inch Apple monitor (with their new low prices, how can you say "no"?)

you are using the wrong paint bucket tool but that is what I am trying to do. If you hold down the eyedropper there is another paint bucket which is the one where you can use the swatches an not the symbols if you know what I mean. And then I click in between the design I made with the lines and it doesnt work, nothing happens.

I think it has something to do with the backround being "empty" and you cant fill the empty space because there is nothing there. If I make a square all I have to do is select it and then click on a color and if fills it in but since I made a bunch of lines there is no surface area to fill in. So how do I make this "surface area".

btw it is all on one layer if that helps
