Why do so many people use cards? I fail to understand. I only use mine for booking hotels or rental cars, everything else is cash. Maybe I’m paranoid, however, I really don't want my numbers floating around any more than necessary.
It's a debit card, comes out of my checking account, I'm just a poor man, if they get that number they arent going to get very far before that checking account runs dry. I'm to paranoid to carry cash.

So for me the card is my since of security and serenity. If they get that you just call and tell your bank that you've lost it and they will disable it's use. If they get your cash then you are just out. If they get your card number then it's insured against false charges. So either way I feel safer.

My CC is an Alaska Airlines Mileage card, for every dollar I spend I get a mile. Gotta earn those free trips to Hawaii (yes, Alaska Airlines flies to Hawaii) to visit the grandkids and back to Alaska to visit friends!! I use it to buy gas, groceries and even pay a couple of my bills with it! Hey, I have enough miles for 2 free trips and I got them all from the CC because I haven't flown anywhere since January 2004!

When gas jumped to $2.00/gallon the cut off was $40.00. Didn't matter, debit or credit.

It takes $73.00 to fill my truck, and a $2.89 a gallon, it doesn't stop...

This isn't the card company that is doing the stopping. I work for one and it is actually the merchant's processor. The one that the money gets ran through. I don't know why they stop but I was told once it's because the pumps sometimes will continue to pump after filling and cutting it off prevents the gas from going to waste.
