I've been to Bristol 2 times. Been to Rockingham before it closed. I liked going around and seeing all their merchandising trailers. You can buy hats shirts posters etc from everybody. It's a good experience everybody ought to try at least once. Some like it, some don't

Now NHRA...that is some cool shiz there. You walk right up to the pits and see them work on the cars. The Nitro burns your eyes. Those cars are nothing short of breathetaking. The first time you see a top fuel car run its like

So anyways...if you don't like NHRA...well then I don't like you.

Well Mark Martin is my obvious NASCAR dude. He's from Batesville originally, about 50 miles or so from here. I like all the Roush guys.

LD rocks

I like pro stock...I always thought I'd like to drive one of those.

(sorry no pics)

I don't know what beer costs. They allow coolers. We always took in several cases of beer. Take something for a headache also. Between the noise, the heat and the beer you may get a headache.

Oh yes, I agree with 3valve! Remember souvenior $$$$$ and yes of course it's going to cost more than the local retail stores, but you will also find stuff you cant get at the retail stores. And wear comfortable shoes, forget the flipflops, you will be doing a bunch of walking.

Before you take in a cooler, you might call or check the website. With all of this new terror warnings, it may not be allowed. Also, if you can get someone to loan you a scanner, you can listen in on the drivers and their crew! Thats pretty fun. You learn who the foul-mouthed drivers are quickly !

Even though Dover allows coolers they still search you. They also have the cooler dimensions on their website. Coolers must fit under your seat. Check the raceway website.

I went to my first Nacar race at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC in May 2005. Coolers had to be no bigger than 18" I think. There were lot's of beer and drunk rednecks yelling "Go Junior!". The experience was awesome. There were 150,000 screaming Nascar fans, cars flying by you at 190 mph, rubber off the tires pelting you in the side of the head as the cars whizzed by, the smell of race gas, smoke, fires, wrecks. It was fun. Let me tell you, the exhausts on those cars will deafen you. I went temporarily deaf by the second lap. Wear ear plugs if you have them.

If you can't find/borrow a scanner, bring an fm radio, and use earbuds with shooting muffs. Many tracks broadcast the race in fm. You can't hear the announcers while the race is on without a setup like this, and it can be difficult to follow the leader board all the time and still keep up with the race. The better scanner setups allow you to share a scanner with a second headset and have mics to allow you to talk. I couldn't talk to my son-in-law at all while the cars where running, even yelling into his ear. I wouldn't have imagined the F-15 flyover at the start was going to be the quietest part of the race. Allow lots of time to get onto the track, took us 3 hours to park. Awesome experience in person. Hope you got seats where you can see the pits, lots of action that way.
