UC,

How stuff needs to be replace on that hot rod? Or have you gotten that far yet?

The gas tank looks like it is good shape, but I see the dash and air shocks need some looking into.

English please. These are slightly dated pics.

The shocks are going to the trash
The dash still looks a lot like that but I've got most of the wires sorted out. Just need to figure out 1 or two and then I can put the dash back together. It looked fine before I took it apart

Jamz; let me know when you figure out what you're asking.

EDIT: Oh yea; the gas tank... I cleaned up the top half and it is now in primer. This week I'm working on the underside which is a LOT more filthy

I'm an idiot....sorry.

"How MUCH stuff needs to be replace on that hot rod? Or have you gotten that far yet?"

That brings up another question...Are you using the original wiring or did you buy a new harness?

I'm asking because I love that car.

This project is done on the cheap. I didn't replace anything in the dash wiring minus a couple connectors; a light bulb, etc.

Aside from a carb swap; the car ran fine. But it's a project car so right now it's in pieces. Right now I'm working on the front and rear suspension, rear axle, and interior. Wait; that's a lot.

Anyway; I did splurge on new brake components for the front and rear.
Anything that costs more than $75 to replace; doesn't get replaced.

I think I have I dunno, $1300 in parts and that's the bulk of my plans at this juncture.

If it were me, I'd rip everything out, start from scratch and buy new harnesses from bumper to bumper. That is some severe hacking that poor thing has under gone over the years and I'm sure thats not the only place....

You have more $$ than I. I dont have $700-$800 for new harnesses.

Well, it may be a slow process, but in the end, I think it'll turn out great. Keep us updated on your progress.

No I dont have any more money... I didn;t realize how high they were!

I was expecting $50-$60 for a dash harness... NOT $399-$420!!!! SOB

I would definatly evaluate the amount of hackage before replacing too.

I lucked out, unless the mice have chewed it up mine is untouched. Even under the hood every plug is in place.

Here is the scenario--

You come into (Good God I can’t believe it!) kind of money. You then contract with Foose et al. to redo the Stang. You send it from custom shop to shop to complete the project-- spending outrageous cash-- in the process. It gets done.

Now you liaise with your new contacts at Hot Rod to set up the photo shoot. In the article they lionize you as a “visionary” with great determination and “messiah like brilliance” for your astounding accomplishment. (Of course you have accomplished this great feat without getting your nails dirty or touching the car)
