Cops beat Homie in Elevator

You seen the video on CNN?

Prosecutors said officers Joe Brinson and Ed Lasseigne roughed up weapons suspect Mark Jones in a police headquarters elevator on July 1, and investigators said the assault was unprovoked.

I like how the Prosecutors say he was "roughed up" If somebody would have beat a Cop like that it would have been "an unprovoked horrendously savage violent attack"

Nothing better than a good Cop......and nothing worse than a bad one.

I saw that video on the news this afternoon. That s*** was crazy! I mean the guy kind of elbowed one of the cops it looked like, but the beating that those cops put on that guy was definetly uncalled for. I'm definetly glad that they fired those two cops.

here's the problem I see. First, the cops seem to be doing him a favor by removing the cuffs from behind him and probably are going to cuff him friom the front. (comfort reasons). Second, dude shoves the cop when they reach for his hand. Third, what would happen if the suspect had of shoved the cop harder, grabbed his gun and shot both of the officers? I say the beating was warranted. plus with no audio, we dont have a clue what is being said. from my standpoint it doesnt look like the guy is trying to be cooperative

the guy is a criminal. Weapons charges? This is a guy is most likely a gang-banger.

Stop protecting the criminals!

Unless he has prior convictions to indicate otherwise we are innocent until proven guilty in this country. At least for the time being.

guilty or not, if he wouldn't have started resisting they probably wouldn't have had to use necessary force to get him under control. Remember they put their lives on the lines EVERYDAY, and they cant take any chances or they could lose that life.

At least the race 'card' can't be played... But I don't think that was even a beating, they were just trying to regain control of an unruly suspect...

I didnt see the video, so I cant give my opinion on the issue.

BUT, I will say this, I agree with J-150. YES, one is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, but that doesn't mean the person that is arrested will act like he is supposed to. He has been arrested for a reason, and that usually means the person broke the law. We need to focus on the facts. Gang banger or Wal-Mart employee, they are still a criminal until the judge says, "Yeah, he's good....NEXT!"

Shows you how smart some cops are, not knowing there's cameras everywhere these days. Sheez.

I disagree. The reason we have courts is to make sure the person arrested is guilty. How many people are taken in (not neccessarily arrested) but taken into the police station based on looks alone? It's possible to arrest the wrong person and in some cases even convict the wrong person so even though we have a court system, that's not perfect either.
It's unfortunate but alot of people think the same way as you. If I was to get arrested and even if the charges had been dropped because I was innocent it makes getting a job and doing other things that much more difficult.

As far as what they did to him, as far as I am concerned, they should have gotten a promotion instead of being fired. The problem is, they should be fired for being stupid, and taking hand cuffs off in an elevator and letting a prisoner that close to your weapon.

I guarentee you if I'm hauled in mistakenly, I'm not going to do anything that don't tell me explicitly to do! If you're hauled in mistakenly, and you know it, you have absolutely nothing to gain by being belligerent. Have a little patience, and it'll get sorted out. No way do I blame those guys... I'm coming home at the end of the day, no matter what...
