How do you get videos onto your iPod using iTunes? I can get iTunes to load video to my 30 gig video iPod.

Also, when ripping CDs to iTunes, I use the Apple Lossless format. Sure it takes up a lot more room then the others. But I hook this thing up to the Pioneer Z1 in the truck and I want the music to sound just as good as a CD without any loss in quality.

BigTRQ:

I have a question in regards to the DVD Coversion software. How do I get the DVD's that I convert to show up in my "Movies" section of my iPod instead of the "Music Videos" section?

...by the way.....this program kicks some serious ***.....able to compress a DVD down to less than 600MB....and when I hook it up to a TV....the quality is still good!

Props on the find!....

Dude, iTunes works fine for me and about eleventy-kabillion other people. It works without flaw and without complication.

My guess would be that the Windows version (since you're using a PC) could have conflict with some other Windows program(s) you have on your PC, but the untold trillions of spyware, adware, stealh net progarms that reside in almost every PC.

Before you write off iTunes (and the Mac), I would suggest you take some time and go to the Apple Store in the St. Louis Mall and have iTunes demonstrated for you on a Mac, by a Mac expert. The kids at the Apple stores are very helpful and knowledgable about Macs and the Mac Universe™. If you really want to get down and dirty into Macs, visit the Genius Bar at the Mac store.

In it's native environment, iTunes is easy to use and I have never had problems with it, whether it be music, movies, photos, or the address book feature.

Good luck with whatever route you choose to go.

It aint the PC either Kobi....could be the user.

I use Itunes, I own a PC, and I've never had a problem.

I think it works great and I have no need for WinAmp or any other MP3 music management/player systems. I like the tight integration.

My only complaint with Itunes was multiple PC profiles and a shared library but it isnt that big of a deal

Holy Smokes .....

Macs are expensive.

Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5 - $1,999.00
Dual 2.3GHz PowerPC G5 - $2,499.00
Quad 2.5GHz PowerPC G5 - $3,299.00

I dunno ... If I cant afford a Harley, I am pretty sure I cant afford a MAC.

I have no idea what that means. As I get older, I am convinced that the more knowledge one has, the more dangerous they are (in other words, once you know how to start playing with something, it's gonna end up broken).

I had heard that what with all the crap that ends up on a PC when you surf the net, plus other media/mp3/similiar programs on a PC, that they can conflict with iTunes, especially if iTunes is not assigned as the default program (or whatever it is you do to use a program in Windows).

I have faith in William's ability to utilize a PC, so I'm going with the "unknown factor", and will say that there is something (possibly multiple somethings) on his machine that iTunes doesn't like . . . or something on his machine that doesn't like iTunes.

Machine violence . . . it ain't pretty. Too bad they can't all get along like people do.

I agree....I maybe acting a bit rash about iTunes.....but I am very frustrated that iTunes deletes any music file on my iPod that is not in my iTunes library.....I assume that this is Apples way of satisfying the RIAA....but nonetheless, I should be able to keep files on my iPod without HAVING to have them stored on my PC as well.......

....I have yet to try a MAC....but I think that I will head to the Apple store this week.....mostly to buy the Bose speaker......

I've never had that happen and I have hooked up my iPod(s) to both my macs (one desktop and one laptop). Some of the songs on my iPods are not in the Powerbook's library and it does not delete them.

That's weird. I'd ask someone at the Genius Bar what that's about.

You can also go to the Apple web site and click on the "support" tab, then click on "Discussions" (in the purple bar), then click on "iTunes fow Windows" folder and see if anyone has written about this (or other problems).

Good luck.

Nope it will do that with the Windows version...thus the multiple profiles thing I mentioned.

Windows gives each user their own registry and personalized directory. Itunes sets an entry in the registry unique for the user.

If I keep all my music in local drive\itunes music

and my wife logs in as her account and attempts to use the same directory it will not work. Itunes will create a new library for each user.

That is a pain. You either share a log in or you double the library size on your PC.

BigTRQ:

.....got a question about the DVD ripping software.....I am trying to get my Arressted Development Season DVDs ripped into my iPod except unlike a normal movie DVD, the episodes are not separated in a mannar that one could decifer which file on the disc is truely an episode.....in other words.....there is only a few files that are large enough (300mb+) to be a true episode....except that there are not enough large files on the disc to coincide with the actual number of episodes on the disc....

....have you tried ripping any seasons from other shows yet and have you run into a similar issue? If so, how have you resolved this?
