Oh Heck Yeah!!!!

So I turn on the TV, flick thru the channels, seems the World Cup is about to start, since the world seems to care, and I'm not at all sure what this "football" thing is really about, and since I like both France and Italy, I figure I'll watch.

So some commercials come on . . .

and . . .

what do I see??????

The first real commercial for the sure to be a blockbuster, instant cult classic . . . .

HELL YEAH !!!!!!

Can't wait.

God I hope they don't blow this. It has such potential.

The world really dont care about the World Cup.
It's the women of the World Cup everyone is interested in. In recent years it has become like Mardi Gras over there.
Sports, beer and *****.... thats the new world anthem as I unite the world as one under my power. muhahahaha

So I'm sitting here watching this and am amazed.

How the hell do they do that?!?!?!

And in watching this, it further confirms what I have always known . . .

American Football players are SOOOOOOOOO not athletes. And, American football really is the most boring thing in the world.

Only someone with absolutely zero athletic ability would ever make a statement like that.

thats a statement i would make. You see i grew up in England and played real sports like rugby, football (AKA soccer) and hockey.

i have since learned to like and watch American football if its a team i like. but generally i think there isn't enough athleticism in the game. stopping the clock every 10 seconds and all the pads they wear and changing out the players when they are tired.

Flame away.

I don't know about athleticism, I am not athletic at all. Well besides B ball, base ball, and volleyball. Really, how much skill does it take???? I think it's more of an instinct to run if a bunch of guys are chasing you.... the bigger they are, then the more I am inclined to run even faster... but that's just me.

How can football players NOT be considered athletic? It's probably the most physically demanding sport out there.

Actually don't even have to look at other countries.
Rodeo clowns are the most athletic athletes in the world bar non. You can't just get gored, tossed around like a rag doll and stepped on every weekend by 2000lbs of animated hamburger with out being in no less than outstanding physical and mental shape.

OK...well football is one of the most physically demanding. I left that three letter word out. I would never consider a football player unathletic.

I wouldn't say never... it's all about perspective and comparison.

Compared to me they are Gods.
But in the world of sports, they are only about 1/2 way up on the athletic ladder. The fans have made them much more than they really are especially in comparison to other athletes.

I hate to say it but football does rank down on the list of the most physical demanding sports. . not easy none the less.

But soccer is number one followed closely by motocross.

http://experts.about.com/e/a/am/American_football.htm

For an early history of American football as it diverged from other games called "football", such as rugby, see football.
The ball used in American football has a pointed oval shape, and usually has a large set of stitches along one side.

American football, known in the United States simply as football, is a competitive team sport that is both fast-paced and strategic. It is one of the more physically demanding sports, with a great deal of physical contact occurring on each play, and requiring rare athletic talent. However, it is also a complex game of managerial command and planning. American football does not much resemble soccer, the sport which most people outside the U.S. call "football"; consequently, the sport is commonly known internationally as "American football" or "gridiron".
