Then... and NOW -

My Grandma had a side room in her house that had a hard dirt floor.
I remember the Atari - I think they called it "Pong".
We had a one car carport, the driveway was two thin ribbons of concrete in the grass. The mortgage payment on the house was $80.80, I'll never forget that amount.
There was one b/w tv ("Saturday Night at the Movies"), no a/c (neither central or window unit), a propane wall furnace in the hall for heat.
Family Doctor made house calls, he had a 1948 VW bug that he bought new, the family still has that car, last I heard...
We had a straight shift station wagon for a family car. Every couple of years my father traded to a newer used car just before vacation, probably less expensive than all the brakes, tires, repairs to make the current one ready for a long trip.
Still, at least in my memories, the 1950's and early 1960's had many things in life as being a LOT better than they are now...

I hardly ever eat there now. I had a Big Mac for the first time in over a year yesterday. When you turn 30, you can't eat like a teenager anymore. It'll catch up with you fast.
