New vehicle question
New vehicle question
I have only bought 1 new vehicle, that is the truck I have now, I also have an 03 grand caravan, bought 11/03 with 16k on it and it now has 61k on it. Thinking about a new one, stopped after work yesterday and checked out a few Chrysler Town & Countrys. They had a few Dark Blue ones out front, about the same color as my truck. Always figured it would make sense to have both of one's vehicles the same color, cause if I come home all drunked up and run into the other one the paint will match.
Anyhow, Chrysler is doing the employee pricing deal, like ford and gm did. Is it a deal or just a gimmick?
About how much off sticker are we talking?
1 of them is $29? the other has the Rear DVD and a moon roof $32k.
thanks for the input.

If you're not a good negotiator, employee pricing is a great deal for you.
FWIW -- I bought my F-150 last summer just before all the employee pricing deals started going around. I ended up getting a significantly better deal on my truck than if I had just gone with the employee pricing program.
Not sure how much mark-up there is on minivans, as this will determine whether better deals are possible by negotiating on your own...

That's frightening.

Oh man, it's gonna be a great day.
Chrysler is basically giving their vehicles away so you should be able to get a good price.
I see you listed your location in S.W. PA so I used zip code 17602 which is Lancaster I believe. I checked to see what incentives are available in that area and applied it to a Chrysler T&C LX, using Edmunds which is a pretty good indicator. Threw in what seemed to be the usual options and got the following:
The national base price is 25620 and invoice is 23632.
Options I added to get it in the 29 range were as follows:
Popular equipment group 2
Supplemental Side Curtain Airbags
Power Driver's Seat
Power Pedal Adjust
total MSRP with options was 29775. Invoice is 27377. Edmunds sez in your area the "True Market Value" is 27724. Plus there are 2500 in incentives and rebates so you should be paying around 25224.
And don't let them screw you in financing. You might be able to have Chrysler finance it at 0% or near 0% even with the rebates.
If you actually happen to be in that area, the Chrysler web site shows a lot of dealers around there. Play them against each other. One of them will be more desperate fro your business than others.

I have a 2005 T&C Touring. Love it.
My wife works @ DCX so we are always eligible for employee pricing. Employee pricing on minivans saves about $1000 under invoice. if you could get invoice price before minus $4k, vs. the EP -$2500, you're paying $500 more than last month. Reviewing incentives over the last 3 years, now is not the best time to buy most DCX products. January 2006 had $5k off mnivans.
Anyway, Edmunds and KBB are pretty accurate about listing what people should expect to pay for a vehicle. Add up the options you want and compare to what a dealer is asking. Around metro Detroit, expect at least $1500 in dealer discounts on minivans on top of employee price, or negotiated price and any manufacturer rebates. I don't see why other regions could sell for $1500 under employee price.
DCX is bringing out a redesigned minivan for 2008 in about a year. I'd be carefull about buying one with the hinted improvements forthcoming. I leased mine expecting to buy/lease the new model.
Paint codes between manufacuters are probably different. I wouldn't assume dark blue == dark blue.

Thanks for the info.
I will stop and talk to someone after work.
I am about 60 miles or so east of Pittsburgh.
NADA says mine is worth about 9500 (Nada hit me for 525 for mileage.) I paid 15400 for it. so for the 2 1/2 years i used it, I'm not out all that much, and it is paid for.

Stopped by the dealer on the way home.
28885 sticker after rebate and employee discount pricing down to
23431
giving me 6500 for my 03 with 61300 miles on it.
with tax an stuff I am looking at aroung 18100
Had no idea going in what type of pricing I would get, so when he said 23431 I had a number of around 12 or 13 grand give or take 1.
I was apparently way off.
This was the touring package, he said for around 2000 less I could get in the LX package. But I would have to give up some things, power sliding doors and hatch ( I don't need them) some of the little trinkets inside. The thing I didn't want to give up is the 3.8 eng, the lower packages have the 3.3
so now I am just figuring out if I want to drop that much right now on a new minivan. I don't even have a wife and kids, but they are great to have, minivans that is.
