I have been experimenting with photography for the last couple years but this summers main focus (aside from my kids) is restoring my 68 Toriono.

Who's 50 is that? is it a Mitchell?

I want one of the Barrett semis, cause 1 shot just may not be enough. I drooled over them at the NRA convention a few years ago when it was in Pittsburgh.

I'm not going to eat it.
Just killing them so they'll leave the wild quail and farmers calves alone.

Dude, that is possibly the funniest collection of jokes I've heard in a long time, exactly what i needed after a stressful day at work!!

You have got to post more of them!!

On an unrelated note, and I realise I'm probably going to get flamed to a crisp for saying this, but i cannot believe you guys down in the states are allowed to own fully automatic assault rifles!

And don't go calling me a gun control liberal, I own several guns myself that i use for skeet shooting and target practice, but it just amazes me that you guys are still allowed to own them.

being conservative here, around 10000 people per year are killed in the US by guns EACH year, and yet so far around 2500 US soldiers have died in Iraq. Again, I'm not anti-gun or anti-soldier by any means (I actually have the utmost respect and admiration for soldiers and vets), but there seems to be a small issue here when a war zone is actually safer than your home turf.

My two cents. Flame away if you will

Tanner

My AR15 is not a selective fire weapon. It's a perfectly legal, semi automatic rifle. And it hasn't committed "assault" on anything other than some paper targets.

Why? A semi automatic rifle is no different in terms of firepower than a bolt action, single shot, or lever action rifle chambered in a comparible or the same caliber.

All my firearms are defective, they haven't killed anyone.

It's the injun, not the arrow. Saying guns kill people is like saying keyboards are responsible for typos.

Thier not fully auto, we have to get special permits to own full auto.
Semi auto is fine, you have to squeeze the trigger for each shot.

As far as a war zone being safer than home, thier are 295,734,134 people in the United states. That means you have a 1 out of 29,574 of being shot here.
I can't find anything stating how many men and woman we have currently stationed in Iraq, but I'm sure the odds are much higher....

As a gun owner, I'm not oblivious to the fact that a semi auto and a lever action have the same firepower. To me, it just seems excessive to own an AK just 'cause. And you can't tell me that its overly hard to convert them into full auto.

With regards to the "thats like saying keyboards are responsible for typos" comment. Well no kidding. Again, I AM A GUN OWNER, and I'm not saying they are responsible for the deaths, but they play a part in a helluva lot of deaths in the US do they not?

None of my guns are defective either, and for the record I own a semi auto 12 guage (2 shell+one in the hole), pump action (same as), semi auto .22, lever action .243, and lever action 30 odd 6. I am completely FOR the right to own guns, but I would much rather my neighbour living in suburbia not have access to an assault rifle that he can get a "special permit" for to have a full auto. Irregardless of the fact that you may only use it to assault paper targets much like myself, what if it got stolen? I would rather someone steal my 12 guage from under my nose than a weapon that is being used on both sides of the battle in Iraq.

I should note that many (if not most) gun deaths in the US are with stolen guns, by the way.

Anyways, I'm gone for the long weekend (Canada Day!!) and will be back on your holiday, the 4th of July.

I hope this clears things up a bit.
Cheers

NFA items (such as machine guns) are so heavily restricted, that if your neighbor owned a real deal M16 and someone broke into his house and stole it, he shouldn't be owning it in the first place. Machine guns aren't something you keep leaning in the corner with a full magazine for unwelcome zombie invaders.

What if someone broke in your house and stole your '06? Then they perched themselves on a rooftop somewhere in the middle of suburbia and started taking potshots at the Jones? Securing them is part of owning them - again, the owner's responsibility, not the weapons'.

So are cars and heart attacks. It's not the object, it's how it's used.

What's wrong with your neighbor? If mine had MG's I'd be damn jealous. J E A L O U S I tell you. I could care less if everyone on my block owned a FA AK47 or AK74, or an M60. It's nothing more to fear than the truck in your driveway.

Maybe we should make it illegal to steal guns then?

You said it best man, its how its used. Having said that, these types of guns such as pistols and assault rifles tend to make things a bit easier if contemplating shooting some do they not??

Answer me this then, in response to your "so do cars and heart attacks" comment. How many car deaths in the us are caused by people deliberately smashing their vehicle into someone with the intent to kill them? Probably not many. Or this one, How many people can cause someone elses heart to fail? Nice analogy pony, makes a lot of sense doesn't it? A gun is an instrument that is a very effective and cheap way of offing someone.

Again, you come back to me pony when you figure out how many car deaths or heart disease deaths are blatantly caused by people looking for a way to get rid of someone. Seeing as im away this weekend that gives you four days to research something that won't have an answer you like, so you best get going on that.
