No offense, Hersh, but YOU LIVE IN TEXAS!

We have some of the best BBQ joints anywhere in the country, and you're going to a "McChain" like Tony Roma's for RIBS???!

WTF?!

I wasn't going to say a thing. The best barbeque I ever had was at a run down building just off of I-35 somewhere between Austin and Laredo. Don't remember the name of the place, or exactly where it was; but, they had truck parking.

That should narrow it down to a couple 1000 places.

Homer's BBQ, exit 225, I-44 in Sullivan Missouri. Old dude, about 75 owns and runs the place. He's only open from Thursday - Sat/Sunday (I forgot which), but it's amazing Now I feel the need to drive an hour and go get some.

no joke, I think the best BBQ I've had is in Llano, called cooper's bbq. My buddy and I would make a trip about once a month to go there from Ft. Worth just to get some meat and come back home. Talking Pork chops, inch and a half thick, whole or half chickens, ribs that are boneless because the bone falls out when they pick them up..It was at one time voted the second best bbq joint in the country

Cooper's is awesome. I used to stop at the one in Mason when I would go from Abilene to San Antonio. The beef is unbelievable. You go in and buy the meat by the pound wrapped in butcher paper, then sit at picnic tables that have loaves of bread, pickles, onions, etc , sitting on them. I always wanted to try the turkey, but the beef was so good, I never did.

The only one in Tulsa closed over a year ago also. They closed after "Smokey Bones" went in about a block away. Now that place is wonderful!

I rarely try the Mom & Pop sized eateries; if I get sick and can sue, I'm looking for windfall profits! So, I stick with the larger chains...

But, I can make a pretty mean bar-be-que myself, my problem is I rarely have the time. By the time I hit Albertson's, buy the meat, get home, rinse it off (It's a habit), make the marinade, marinade the meat, prep the grill (Charcoal's the only real way to do barbeque, preferably with mesquite briquettes), then drop the ribs and wait on them.

By the time I'd be ready to eat the ribs I make, I could have gone to TR's ordered, ate, paid, drove to Shreveport and gambled for an hour or two, and be half way back home.

I have tried smaller family chains like ****ey's and Colters- but they don't hold a candle to Tony Roma's.

Side note: I'd never had dry rub bar-be-que before 2 weks ago, when one of the daycare father's sent some over to my house via his wife. (He was still grilling). Let me tell you, that was some of teh best barbeque I have ever, ever, EVER, had in my life, including mine, any resturant, and even (gulp) my mother-in-laws... This dude (Anthony) can barbeque his *** off.

If you haven't had dry-rub, you might want to try it.

I'm not givign up our homemeade sauce, or for a store brand (KC Masterpiece), but dry rub is excellent...

PS, I hear Bone-Daddy's off of 75 is great, but I've never been there.

Hmm, sounds liek lunch!

Man, I'd go to lunch there today, if I didn't have these conference calls set up at 11:00 and 1:00 PM. I may hit them up Saturday! yeah, I guess there was a Lightning rally there one day, I've seen pics on this site of some guy with a bunch of Bone-Daddy girls out by the truck(s).

I heard a resturant named "Victor's" here, is chock full of Latina hotties (my favorite), but, I haven't made it there yet either... It's cool to get surprised like that. My wife and I tried a new resturant in Killen in 1995 called "Chester's". We went inside, and boing-boing-boing...

I'm sure she wanted to leave, but I guess shock wouldn't allow her to do an about face, so we stayed. We were seated in a mnanner that my back was towards most of the action, that's when she said, "Would you like to change seats so you can see?" I said, "Hell yeah!" She gave me "that look" but, we changed seats.

Man, I love that woman!

It's been more than 15 years. That place has probably turned to dust by now anyway.

I was just pointing out that Texas is the place for BBQ. Kansas City ain't half bad either. North Carolina boasts good BBQ; but, I have yet to find it.

On your next Tony Roma's shipment I'll throw a dozen Chesapeake Bay crabs and some Old Bay seasoning.
How do I get on this mailing list?
