I'm sure vader will have more to say. We probably all will. Barney (my new name for USAFZEALOT) is great entertainment, much better than watching the sad excuses for movie that are being released recently. (Not to mention cheaper. $12 to see a bad movie?!?! I don't think so.)

I know I'll be checking in to see what absurd stuff Barney will spew. I'm rather trapped here today. The car is in for detailing and I'm stuck at home, doing a lot of cleaning (the GF is flying in tomorrow so I need to straighten the place up).

Nah leave your place the way it is, welcome her home with a Mop and a bucket. Should make for some interesting posts

See Option C in your other thread

Oh and I love the Andy Griffith show, my favorite show of all time. I almost hate to see Barney used in such a way but I can understand the reference.

USAPATRIOT,

While I do tend to agree with most of what you say (and we have agreed several times in the past), you have gone overboard a few times. Now, in order for you to have any respect on this board and make your opinions heard and thought about, you owe everyone an apoplogy. As a member of the armed forces, you are also a United States Diplomat. As a diplomat, you've overstepped the bounds... I have a lot of respect for many people on here, and it pains me to see you disrespect them like you do. Make your point, but have it be valid and non-demeaning. I do not like hearing these guys down the Pres every chance they get, but at the same time, I respect their right to do that. This country is not a dictatorship, nor a kingdom. They have every right to disagree, insult, and belittle the Pres. WE, as military members, DO NOT. I support President Bush, as do you. But not everyone does, and you have to respect that...

Actually you do unless you are a commissioned Officer, they are barred from political speech.

I dunno, there was an LT on TV the other day, who refuses to deploy to Iraq because he disagrees with it, and he's pissed because his chain of command will not allow him to resign his commission (as an officer).

I never knew that resigning a commission was an option, until my LT got a very nice job offer, and resigned her commission (before I had a chance to hit it), and went to Atlanta, and a $70,000 a year job. (Quite a salary bump from 1996 O-2 over 2 pay.) That was like being promoted from Lieutenant to 4 star General.

You certainly couldn't "resign your enlistment" if you were an enlisted man/woman. You sign up for four, you're doing four; unless you get kicked out, and if "stop-loss" comes, you may even do 5 or 6 years of a 4 year enlistment!

Months later, he resubmitted his request to resign, Seitz said.

The Hawaii native was told last month his request had been denied. The Army said it was because Watada's unit is in a stop-loss category, and he has not fulfilled his service obligation. His commission requires that he serve as an active-duty Army officer for three years ending Dec. 3, his lawyer said.

Come on LT. I mean, Dude, I didn't want to go either, no one wants to go to war, or to a warzone- where you have a chance of coming home wrapped in plastic with a flag draped over you. Nevertheless, when my unit got the call, I went.

When they were "picking volunteers" for the advanced party, I had a problem with that because I was selected to go to "replace" a married soldier. As if a single soldier's life doesn't mean as much as a married soldier's life does.

But, when they said "everybody's going" I was cool with that.

Also, it's his duty. He knew what was up when he signed that dotted line. I mean, he knew if he had to go to war, it was part of the "package" . I did, and when the time was going to come, I was ready......but it never did. I hate that because I feel as though I didn't give back everything the Corps gave me.

Some folks just come in for the "college money".

They don't realize (or choose not to accept) that the call could come...

When I joined, our primary enemy was Russia; who saw Iraq coming, and to a lesser extent, Panama, Mogadishu, and the Balkans?

Okay, I'll tell you all what, I'm sorry if i've offended anyone. I guess I get carried away when I talk about these type of things. What really gets my blood boiling is folks questioning my service and my integrity. However, I apologize, swallow my pride and hope that those that i've offended forgive me:o

Thank you. I also am very familiar with getting carried away and shooting off my mouth. It's gotten me into trouble more than once...

I agree, questioning my integrity is one way to **** me off for sure. But you gotta smile and look the other way, at least until you can come up with a rebuttal that doesn't include vulgarities and name calling, and leaves the other party speechless.

Everyone else, accept his apology and respect his point of view. I know most of you do, and I also know that some of you have been pushing his buttons for fun. You know who you are <cough> kobi <cough> ...

Yes I have, and he deserved it . . .

However, that said . . .

Apology accepted. And, although I can't speak for the others here, I'll bet they will too.

See how easy that was. And although I was yanking your chain (for which I offer an apology back, sorry) I have nothing but respect for those who have served, yes, including you, and do not question your integrity. A big thank you for your service. You would have found a lot of gratitude and folks offering thanks for what you have done and the sacrifices you have made if you had kept it simple, told us you served, and left it at that. No one wants to be told they don't understand. Everyone has their own way of understanding based on their own experiences. So it's all good.

The group of kids on these forums are a pretty tight bunch and would go out of their way to help those here who need it. You only need to read a lot of the threads here to see that. Join them - rather than fight them - and you'd be amazed at the cooperation and help you'd get. Do they have spats here. Yup, but no different than anywhere else.

Kick back, take it easy. Try not to talk about politics or war for a while and let that blow over . . . join discussions about Jamz's emotional dysfunction while in restaurant parking lots or, or make fun of Mattineer's never ending f-ups and craving attention, or some of the guy's boats, or general truck stuff, whatever.

It's all good.

Oh, and stop making people come to your house in Wichita just so you can smack them up side the head. If you're gonna kill someone, at least be courteous enough to go to them. Seems only fair.
