Three bus loads of injured /disabled Vets came to the Dover NASCAR race from Walter Reed today. THIS WAR MUST END. These were kids and many were missing limbs.

Every war has casualties...They were not kids, calling them that is disrespectful. They rose their right hands and swore to defend their country. You may not agree and you may not like it, but guess what...all of us that join the military know what may happen. We joined of free will and were not drafted. I'm glad you have your opinion and i wont try to change it. You are wrong whether you like it or not. You may not have the stomach for the realities of this war or any other. War is a horrid, disgusting and stomach churning experience, especially if you've ever helped pick up some of those limbs as I have. I've never met a man or woman whose lost an arm or leg that didn't say they still wanted to get the job done. We have a mission and though difficult we will do our best to carry it out. No one likes war but war is what we do in the military. I say that we fight to defend freedom and freedom is not a way of life that should be available only to America.
It's easy to arm-chair quarter back based on only the bad things most of you see. I've seen the other side, we've done good things and regardless of what you beleive, many, many Iraqis appreciate us and are scared to death we are going to leave them on their own before they are ready. A lot of good can come from this. This war will not be won or lost in Iraq...It will be won or lost here. If you support us (your troops) support our mission, have faith in us and your country...we want to get the job done and make you proud. We want to show everyone here that we will meet our calling, and though it isn't easy, have a little faith. every war/contingency has its dark side. We need your support and though you may not agree, we hate hearing "pull them kids out!" The same way a boxer would hate his trainer to throw the towel. It's tough and everyone has the right to question our reasons for being there but we are there and we must win. Losing is not an option. It would demoralize America, it would demoralize our military and it would leave us open to our enemies by enboldening them.

Great words of advice.

I've been particularly silent in this thread. Needed to take some time off regarding this topic.

But here are a few of my observations
  1. To accuse conservatives, true conservatives, of being defeatist, anti-American, liberal, etc simply because they disagree with the war is wrong.
  2. To assume that one who is against the war doesn't support and appreciate the war is wrong.
  3. To attack those who do not agree with Bush's pre-preemptive war policies simply because they disagree is wrong.
  4. Assuming that because you have not been to war you have no idea what you are talking about is wrong. The man making the final decisions has never been to war...is he unqualified?

Being opinionated is great.

Immediately attacking those who don't agree with you is wrong.

There are in fact Iraq, and other veteran groups that are adamantly opposed to the war.

I love threads like this. .

Some peoples emotions take over their better judgement and are close minded when it comes to subjects like this. But, anyways back to the THREAD. The case is stupid and will probally be thrown out, hopefully. $84 million dollars? Come on now.

Well when I was a young teen GI's looked old and to me they were men. When I was a GI until the age of 26 we/they seemed like young adults that were out for fun. Now when you are my age they may be young adults but they are also kids.

Burying a 20 year old at age twenty is much different than burying a 20 year old when you're in your 50s.

You yourself are young and you will become much wiser with age and see things much defferently.

One other thing I forgot to add don't ever imply that I am disrespectful of any current or former military personnel.
