Me and 172 close friends...

Today the funeral was held for Sgt. L. Calvin Allen, of Bellevue Nebraska.

Services were held at Capehart Chapel for family and friends. The protest group from Kansas was scheduled to make an appearance, and the Patriot Guard Rides answered the call.

PGR members escorted Sgt. Allen from Omaha's airport at midnight Friday night, through a thunder and hail storm. Today, 172 bikers and one F150 () met up and rolled on a show of honor and respect that somehow seemed to show the 8 pinheads with signs exactly how unimportant they are.

Bellevue PD, Sarpy Co. Sherriff, Offut AFB MP, and NE State Patrol are to be thanked for the awesome job of traffic control. At one point, the honor guard escorting Sgt. Allen and his family stretched out about 3-1/2 miles.

I think Bush is going to pass a bill today. The legislation would make it a felony to demonstrate within 500 feet of a funeral service.

Here in Nebraska, our Legislature passed a law this spring that maintains a 300 foot distance between the protesters and the services. The 8 pinheads that showed up were shown the 300 foot line by the Sherriff's Dept., and informed that if they cross the iline they go straight to jail, do not pass GO or collect $200. The Patriot Guard, on the other hand, were there as invited guests of the family. Police blocked traffic and escorted us to the front door of the chapel. Once we went past, the pinhead patrol pulled up their pants and went home...leaving 10 minutes before the ceremony even started.

Perhaps they realized their insignificance?

I'm so confused. There are actually people who will protest a soldiers death? How so, are they saying it's not right soldiers are dying for this cause or are they preaching sadistic messages. I can't imagine the latter happening, although I wasn't able to view that video posted earlier where the lady protests w/signs that say, "Stop praying, there is no God"..."These soldiers were idiots"...etc. I hope that was a small group and were not the protesters in this case. I have no speakers so I couldn't hear a damn thing she said on that video. God bless you guys for riding in memory, great message on the site for a stupendous purpose. May someone do the same for you guys.

That was the cool part of it; I don't have a bike anymore, but most everyone there was a veteran, and anyone who wanted to come out was accepted. I took three coolers and went through over 500 bottles of water and 150 lbs. of ice. When the train of bikes escorted the hearse and limo with the family back to the funeral home (pic in first post), I was at the end of the line in my SCab, with strobes going on all 4 corners~made it easy for the Law Enforcement officers doing traffic to know where the end of the procession was.

Look up the Rev. Fred Phelps in wikipedia. DON'T GO TO HIS WEBSITE, he'll think you support his idea that the reason our soldiers are dieing in Iraq is because God is getting his retaliation on the U.S. for tolerating Homosexuality. Underneath it all, I think the scumbucket just wants someone to come punch him in the face so he can get on the news and sue someone.

Now, what if I'm not a veteran, but still want to help with this cause?? I'd be more than willing to be the water patrol....
