Broke a tooth in half when playing football at age 13, dentist gave me a shot in the hard pallet, roof of my mouth. He used a neddle that looked like a nail. For the next several years, i had needle phobia, would have fillings put in with no deadening as I could handle the drill but not the needle.

Severe ankle sprain that tore ankle up so bad had to put it in a cast.

Muscle spasam in back caused by the siatic nerve telling a muscle to contrict, then would not release. Thought I was going to have to have surgery but the relaxers finally worked.

Kidney stones. Hurt so bad I through up.

As far as physical pain, I'd definitely have to say kidney stones. I have had 5 or 6 over the years, all of them excruciating. Morphine was the only thing that could touch the pain. The last one was way too big to pass on it's own, so it had to be removed by a urologist. I'll spare everyone the details of that procedure, but I cried like a little girl. I peed blood for a week, and it felt like I was peeing gasoline, broken glass, and razor blades. I finally peed a massive blood clot the size of my fist (literally) and things eventually got back to normal. Take my advice...drink LOTS of water every day to keep kidney stones away.

This one is a heartbreaker, so just stop reading now if you cry easily. The most pain I've ever experienced in my life was when my son was born. Here's the story: My wife had a perfectly normal pregnancy, she had excellent prenatal care, and everything was going fine. During labor the baby's heartbeat and vital signs started getting abnormal. The doctor basically ignored it and told my wife to quit pushing for a while. The baby was obviously in distress, but the doc was clueless. When my son eventually came into this world, he was literally blue. He wasn't breathing, and hadn't been for quite some time. He wasn't even moving. He didn't make a sound. The nurse just laid his limp little body on my wifes chest. I said "Why isn't he crying?". They were still clueless. My wife should have had an emergency C-section as soon as they noticed he was in distress, but they just had her keep pushing. They eventually got him breathing on his own, but he started having seizures. As a result of the lack of oxygen during delivery, our newborn son suffered a series of strokes. He spent his first month in intensive care clinging to life. That was the worst pain I've ever experienced...watching my new baby boy go through such a traumatic birth that nearly took his life. Our son just turned 1 year old on saturday, and he is making excellent progress. The strokes he suffered left him with some brain damage, weakness on one side of his body, visual impairment, and epilepsy. Despite such a rough beginning, he is a very happy baby that loves to laugh and play. He's getting stronger every day, and he's the biggest joy in our lives. See...I warned you that it was a sad story. I'd go through a million kidney stones rather than experience this kind of pain again. He's going to be fine though...he's a fighter. Tissue anyone?

Figured I'd been away too long and needed to swing buy. Been getting caught up in a ton of other stuff; never enough time in the day. I'll try to get back from time to time. Hows the rest of the night shift doing?

Wow! So sorry to hear you and your family had to go through all of that! My prayers and thoughts to your family. What should have been the happiest moment of your life, bringing your son into the world, seeing him for thr first time, sounds like the most tragic. Hopefully, he can continue to make progress and grow to be a happy kid, that i am sure will be loved more than he could ever know. Yea, i am not married, no kids, so i can only imagine what that would be liek, but i would suffer a thousand times more pain than i ever have to keep my kids safe (when i ever do have some). Good luck, and God Bless.

Well its good of you to let us know you're still among the living. I know exactly what you mean about there not being enough hours in the day. I think we need to figure out a way to not have to sleep, it's such a huge waste of time!!

The night shift is not what it used to be We lost a lot of our people to the day shift and now the nights are pretty much hum-drum.

Oh wow. That's heartbreaking. I agree. There is no physical pain that compares to true emotional pain. I'm so glad for you and your family that he is doing better. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I experienced the same kind of thing one time. I cut my right calf muscle in half and couldn't bend my knee. That is a wierd feeling not being able to bend your knee.

As part of a certification class had to get tazed with the X26, it has to be the most painful thing I can remember at this point aside from wisdom teeth dry socket.

It's a toss-up between getting my nipple pierced and when I got shot in the leg when I was 16 by a small caliber bullet at point blank. The bullet went through my left thigh and traveled into my right thigh to within an inch of my femur. It's a good thing it was cold out and I was wearing tighty whiteys...

Yes, it was that close. the concussion from the bullet made my nards ache like I had been kicked down there by a mule, not to mention the month following while everything healed (while I was walking - well, hobbling actually...)
