Worst pain you've ever experienced?

I've dislocated my knees (yes, plural :( ) three or four times in the past few years. The joint will pop out and pop right back in depending on how I twist it and how much weight I put on it. Hurts like hell.

Once or twice a year, I'll pinch a nerve or something in my back that'll put me down for the count no matter how many happy pills I got. The only thing that motivates me to move on those days is going to the bathroom.

And when I was little kid, I toppled down a brick 5 stair and tore most of the skin off my right shin. Today, if that shin takes a good smack, it splits open like a baked potato. That part doesn't really hurt, it's more annoying than anything I guess.

How 'bout you?

I was securing two cement blocks to a dethatcher to pull behind my mower. I was using those rubber tie straps with the metal S-hooks on the ends. I was stretching one around the dethatcher when the rubber gave way and the S-hook, while in my hand, jammed in my eye socket. (like hitting myself in the face as hard as possible only with a metal S-hook on the end). Ouch!!

Knocked myself out cold. Woke up in the ER. The S-hook was lodged in my left eye socket. Almost lost my eye. I was on morphine drip for 24 hours, was sent home and had an RX for oxycodone (that stuff is evil) for two weeks.

Needless to say, I no longer use those rubber tie straps. Ratchet all the way for me.

When I was 13, I was ran over by a car. Yes, I was found underneath the damn thing. The eye incident was worse by far.

I can't top that.

I had hernia surgery back a few years ago. The hernia wasn't all that painfull, just uncomfortable. Surgery made everything hurt like h3ll! It's also in an area with a lot of sensetive bits, if you know what I mean.

I thought I never felt pain until I fell 12' off a roof onto a concrete slab flat on my back. The ER doctor said I was lucky, I landed so perfectly flat that the impact was spread out, I just cracked a couple of ribs and had a pretty good concussion.

Lucky, sure.

But I was in the delivery room when my first son was born. I have no doubt that childbirth tops the list.

hEMROIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The kind that get removed by surgery

OnBelay May 12, 2006 08:20 AM

I have broken:

all fingers
right arm 2x
all ribs on right side (42 foot fall, landed "wrong")
right leg
jaw 2x
nose ?x...can't remember
left cheekbone
left leg

and had 7 surgeries, including joint replacement on right shoulder after countless dislocations.

Worst pain? Kidney stone. BelayOn (Mrs. OnBelay) said she'd never seen me hand the car keys over to her before-she knew I was in bad shape

I shattered my knee cap into 8 peices when I had a head on collision with another motorcycle (piloted by a wrong way rider on marked one way trail). Our closing speed was about 50 mph, and my knee hit his fork tube.

Since I also hit my head they would not give me pain killers until I got to the hospital many hours later. The bumpy 4wd ride back to pavement was endless, and they were constantly giving me smelling salts to keep me conscious.

Basically for about 6 hours I was begging God to take me.

Two major surgeries and I spent 6 of the next 12 months on crutches. And endless hours of physical therapy. Never did get more than 1/6 of my strength back in my left leg.

So yeah, that pretty much sucked.

I had to have two valves stripped out of my legs between the groin and knee, both done at the same time and had to wear circulation socks for six weeks and was pretty much in bed or a lazy boy. Moving around at all anywhere was sever for four weeks, it was bad.

Anyone else eagerly anticpate Mountaineers response to this thread?

Last Thursday.

For some reason the muscle attached to the left side of my jaw tensed up real bad. I was absolute pain for 2-3 hours and it was unbearable. Had to watch every movement of my head as even a little adjustment would just kill. It tool almost a full week for my jaw to get back to normal.

I personally think the pain was worse than when I broke my jaw back in 97' but adrenalin probably helped there.
