All the more reason to rebuild it. Turn it into a giant trailer park and let them go back home and keep killing each other off.
A win win deal if ya ask me.

98 Navi, that was way too much idiotic horse**** (There I said it) for me to engage you with. No, I don't know it all, but just like you- I have my opinion. You can read it, like it, hate it, or ignor it- the option is yours. But, if you don't like me, excuse me while I fluff this pillow and go to sleep. What you think doesn't bother me. So, do you want a cookie for your thoughtful decision to live in Atlanta? I mean, if you're scared- move to Salt Lake City. Even less of a chance of natural disaster touching you. Truth is, you can't hide from everything.

I agree with one thing- a hurricane can't exactly sneak up on you- you have a good 5-10 day heads up. But, I'm not going to look at those people as if I'm looking into a toilet right before I flush it. Even if I thought they were stupid to stay, many of those people survived hurricanes in their life, and New Orleans was missed anyway. Even the weather man said "New Orleans dodged the bullet". It must've been a boomerang, not a bullet because the after effect is what destroyed New Orleans, not the hit. You see the same BS, every year on the gulf coast; you'll see it again this year. People say, do, and write stupid things, I'm sure we can agree on that.

Since you want to resort to direct insults, let me stop thinking here for a minute, and make sure I understand your simplistic, darwinistic, bigoted, hateful, uninformed, simple-minded, group-thinking, git'er done, humpin' your sister, rant. I need you to protect me... Surely, you jest... How exactly do people like YOU, protect people like me? What freedoms have you fought for on my behalf? What have you done that can even be remotely likened to protecting anyone? If you served in the military, guess what? I have to- so again, what have you done to protect me and my rights, that I didn't earn, haven't done, won't do, and can't do myself? Nothing.

You make your own way? Get in line bro... I've been working since I was 13, started my own lawn-mowing business in the 7th grade with 3 yards, and $15/week, now I'm making a prety good living. I have rental property, my own home, cars, savings account, 401K, and I'm in the 28% tax bracket. I think I'm doing pretty good. I pay my taxes too, so- some of the money I think is a good idea to invest in New Orleans, is mine too.

You are essentially saying because New Orleans, a city that has stood for over 200 years, is below sea level- the city's residents should have known what could possibly happen long ago, and they should have moved the city a few miles inland. My God! That's so simple, why didn't they think of that before? Let's just stop everything, and on Sunday, we're gonna move the whole damn city. That has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever read. You must've gone to the Rush Limbaugh School of Relocation to have come up with that. As insane as those guys are, (Limbaugh and Hannidy) I don't think they'd say something that ****ing stupid. You are a genius, 98, a true genius.

So, tell us- exactly where can we move an entire city and its surrounding area, and maintain it's soverignty (for lack of a better word)? I mean, I know there enough vacant land somewhere to put an entire ****ing major city! You think it cost a lot to rebuild New Orleans, how much do you think it will cost to "relocate" New Orleans?

I could go on and on, but it's pointless. You have about as much power as I do to make decisions that'll carry any weight in Washington D.C., Baton Rouge, LA or New Orleans, so what's the point? We can sit here and trade insults, but- what would that solve? Before today, I never said anything derogatory about 98Navi, I don't know you man. But, what I can see is that you extrapolated offense from my previous words and decided to react to it. So be it, it was there for all to read; but I didn't call you out. It seems you saw some of your qualities in my initial reply. You must have, since you felt the need to engage me directly.

There are some guys on this site who's arguments/debates, and to a lesser extent- opinions I'll listen to, most I really don't. In the years I've been here, I never really paid attention to your comments to my recollection; not enough to remember anyway, until recently. So, there it is.

Are we done?

Yeah, I say rebuild New Orleans, and let everybody that wants to go back, go back.. That's cool. I agree. But gentlmen, let's not pretend Houston didn't have problems Pre-Katrina. I don't think Houston was on the top 10 safest cities in the US list.

Every city has bad parts, the wards in Houston (was just down there last weekend, damn...), the wards in New Orleans, Detroit, parts of Oak Cliff & Pleasant Grove (Dallas), the list goes on and on. Wherever there is a concentration of poor(er) folks, there will be a higher concentration of crime.

When I was in Brooklyn last year, I didn't know what the heck to think? We walked the streets (I had my Cowboys beanie on, with the BIG star on the Forehead) and nobody said jack to me, no dirty looks or nothing- in the middle of Giant country amongst people who are supposed to be second in rudenes, only to the French (those farking Germans are rude too, don't be fooled). All you ever hear about is how jacked-up Brooklyn is, how bad Brooklyn is, etc... Although my three days in Brooklyn/Manhattan don't make me an expert, it wasn't a stab and jab, do't get outta your car or we'll kill you, area either. Not nearly like what you see on TV. I enjoyed myself. We walked the streets, and even went to Junior's to get a piece of cheescake (MTV's Making the Band II). Walked, and got it.

I love DFW, way more than Houston. Actually, I think Houston is rather *****ty; but 3,000,000 people call it home. Who am I to say Houston wouldn't be worthy of being rebuilt? There's a city/country in europe that has a city, just like N.O., only it's 15-20 feet below sea level, not 5. And, they are in Hurricane territory. They have survivied all this time; so we know it is possible; albeit it costly.

They were close, about 20 miles north east of me. I was headed home and saw the lightning in the distance, but not a drop of rain fell on us. They said Anna got a 15 minute warning, but Westminster got no warning. Storm came from out of no where, and went from calm skies to severe thunderstorm w/rotation in under 10 minutes.

That's Texas for you...

I have a classmate who lives in that area. I don't remember if she said she lives in Anna, Melissa or Tioga. Anna got hit lightly, but Westminster (I think that's the name) got hit hard. Those houses were flattened, and they're saying F2/F3. That had to be an strong F3 because it turned those houses into what looks like a big pile of matches.

Tornado's activity peaks at 5:00 PM, this one came at 10:30; they said most of the residents were asleep and probably didn't hear the warning. Night time is worse- you can't see them coming to even try to run/out maneuver them.

But yes, they should rebuild... A natural disaster can happen anywhere, tornado's hit all 50 states, unfortunately, Texas, Oklahoma and Florida lead the nation in touchdowns (March -June) but, as the summer progresses, the threat moves north (Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, etc.. (June - September).

I'm a weather nut, so I know all of this...

I know that's right. I guy I work with told me he has family that live up that way. He didn't even know about it until I sent him a link.

10:30 is an odd time for that to happen, but like you said...That's Texas for you...

There was a family on this morning that said they were watching TV, when they heard a whirring sound. Just then the windows broke, and a hole opened up in the wall. The woman and her mother were sucked through the hole (Opening) from the living into the garage. Once they landed the roof collapsed on top of them.

The good news is, the roof collapsed in such a way that it sheilded them from other debris, they were not crushed, and barely scratched. it's like the rubble formed a dome over them just big enough for 2 maybe 3 people.

Three people did die in the tornado; and over 100 were injured (as of 8:00 AM this morning). The man (In the house with his wife and mother) was not injured either.
------------------------------
They had a cool picture of the tower last night. Someone sent it in, if I find it, I'll post the pic. That thing (Not the tornado, the tower) went straight up. The meteorologist said the atmosphere over DFW was the most unstable, with the highest dew point he'd seen in the 7 years he's been here. What happened to go from clear skies to a tornao in minutes was due to a rupture in the highpressure dome, which allowed the rapid ascent of moisture into the atmosphere, creating a supercell storm in minutes. This wasn't a storm that tracked west to east, that you knwo is coming hours in advance, this came from out of nowhere...

Gives truth to the statement, "If you don't like the weather in Texas, wait 10 minutes..."

Two of the worst rotating storms I have ever witnessed occurred over Lake Ponchartrain in LA. In both instances, I was out on the lake in a shrimp boat. Seeing a water funnel coming at you is very scary to say the least. These weren't near a big as anything that ya'll Texans see on land, but they were bigger than the boat I was in!

Answer to question #1: Yes, I do believe people reap what they sow.

Answer to question #2: I have no idea if they got what they deserved, it's not for me to judge. So I have no say.

But I will say that I do not wish any harm on anybody... except evil terrorists and any organization or nation seeking to rise up against Isreal. The homeland of Jesus Christ.

What you think doesn't bother me. So, do you want a cookie for your thoughtful decision to live in Atlanta?
It shouldn't bother you, its alternative to what you think. Its meant to show you the realist view, not the optimist. Atlanta was not my choice, its where the job is. I personally prefer Hurricane alley, aka Charleston SC. Gets bad, you leave, thats it.

Even if I thought they were stupid to stay, many of those people survived hurricanes in their life
I have been through several hurricanes. But I was never stupid enough to stay in town when one that big came knockin on my door. I caught the latter end of Hugo and was way inland for it (raleigh NC) A few years later, we had Fran (again in raleigh) While I was in statesboro GA at GSU we had one there, lots of flooding but only a cat 2. In charleston I went through Floyd. Point is, none of these were even strong cat 3's at landfall. Strong 3 or even a weak 4 is more than sufficiant reason to exit, stage left.

You see the same BS, every year on the gulf coast; you'll see it again this year. People say, do, and write stupid things, I'm sure we can agree on that.
I concur.

simplistic, darwinistic, bigoted, hateful, uninformed, simple-minded, group-thinking, git'er done, humpin' your sister, rant
This is about the point in our last discussion that I formed my opinion of you. When you assumed something you knew nothing about. You think I am simple, yet you know not what my level of education is. You call me darwinistic, well we all know that's the dumbass death award. Bigoted? How so? Hateful? No, tired of seeing pissed away money on idiots that comes from my pocket and yours. Uninformed? Hardly, I know alot more than you think. Simple minded and simplistic are the basic same. A simplistic person is often simple minded. Critical thinking skillz need improvement bud! Group thinking.....I fail to make the connection, but I would assume you are throwing me into the afore mentioned limbaugh and hannity crowd, to which I'll gladly accept. Giter done eh? My name isn't larry. Humpin my sister too. Yeah, what part of new york are you really from? See, you act like an azz but expect some kinda positive response? You got what you opened the door to.

I need you to protect me... Surely, you jest... How exactly do people like YOU, protect people like me?
I didn't say me, I said people like me. People who are willing to make the tough, unpopular decisions that though unpopular will benefit the common good in the long run. Again, work on those critical reading skillz homey.

Thats great. Hopefully your parents instilled upon you a work ethic that makes you a productive part of society as did mine. To quote Charlie Daniels, "I ain't askin nobody for nothin, if I can't get it on my own." Quite frankly, you and I followed a simliar path from what you say, cuttin grass from the getgo. However, investing in NO is like buying a house on a fault line. You never know when its going to be gone.

You are essentially saying because New Orleans, a city that has stood for over 200 years, is below sea level- the city's residents should have known what could possibly happen long ago, and they should have moved the city a few miles inland. As insane as those guys are, (Limbaugh and Hannidy) I don't think they'd say something that ****ing stupid. You are a genius, 98, a true genius.
Moving right along, what I am saying is that the city already knew what was GOING TO HAPPEN as soon as they got hit by a storm of that magnitude. What did they do to prepare for it? Nothing. They diverted money from the gov't that was specifically for improvement of the levees to other ignorant and corrupt programs. The piper came calling, and the whole city paid the price for the ignorance of a few. I didn't say they need to move the city. I said they don't need to rebuild it the EXACT SAME WAY. Why rebuild a structure that will fail under the same circumstances again, potentially the very next year? A house built on the sand.......yeah, thats it. Limbaugh and Hannity are telling you how it is everyday. You must be to closed minded to hear the truth. Yeah, a genius doesn't waste time, money, and man power to build a structure thats doomed to fail. Guess that ranks you down there with a guy named Gump.

I could go on and on, but it's pointless. You have about as much power as I do to make decisions that'll carry any weight in Washington D.C., Baton Rouge, LA or New Orleans, so what's the point? We can sit here and trade insults, but- what would that solve?
Are we done?
You're right about one thing. You or I as an individual can't do anything. But you and I as a pair, along with a group can. Why waste so much to achieve only a short term answer to a permanant problem. Why not push for the damn thing to be done right, instead of the way its been done? If even you push for it and don't get it, when it happens again you get to stand above the rest and say, I told you so.....pay for it your damn self this time.

I don't ahve a problem with you individually, just your mindset. You're simply appeasing the public and going with the bitchy whiney jerkoffs from NO who simply want a check, nothing else. Look at how the bastards looted their own city. I don't mean the ones taking food, I mean the F'ing idiots stealing TV's and electronics and stuff when there wasn't even any power to use them with. The city is so full of crooks, criminals and corrupt officials that it played out on TV looking like the movie red dawn. People had to arm themselves in their own homes like we had been invaded. Thats not a city or group of people worth helping in my book. Let god sort them out.

Valid point. even the POLICE OFFICERS were caught looting, what does that tell you about the caliber of the people in NO? And I do have a problem with my tax dollars going to rebuild a city, in a state that misused its funding anyway. So now, between rebuilding, and misuse of funds, its gonna cost how many times more to bring them back, its a waste... People that went back, are in a position to rebuild. People that couldn't make it back, well, that's the trash cluttering the streets. Why do I call them trash, because I have faught for everything I have to this day, and if these people had half the drive and determination of your average person, they wouldn't have been on the street, or in some old run down house. You are what you make of yourself, you get in what you put out. I am young, and uninformed, and openly admit this, but I have fought the world for the last 4 years, and came out on top, and this is why I feel the way I do. 98NAVI, I think you have spoken how I feel about rebuilding more tactfully than I could (glad someone got an education).

Back on topic-
What better to do than to waste more tax dollars to insert ellen DEGENERATE, and rosie odonell into all of their text books.

where is the earthquake to drop them off into the ocean when u need it?
