Ford fire suppression system

I read some chatter about this setup in Crown Vic police cars on Ford's dealer website. Kinda neat.

https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/...uppression.asp

Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the video link. As I understand though, the Vic in that video had to be remotely lit on fire since they couldn't even get the stupid car to catch with a 100 mph rear impact. And if y'all should ever happen to run into this system one way or another, don't push the button in the headliner just to see what happens. Rumor has it it's like $18,000 to recharge/replace the system after it's been deployed.

So, they couldn't even puncture the tank at over 75mph hitting a dead stop. What are the chances of the tank busting unless hit by a semi then? And if you got hit that fast by a semi, do you really think you'll need to put out the fire?

That was my gripe. The way I figure, if you get *** ended by anything at highway speeds, you're gonna be in a world of hurt whether the car's on fire or not. But I'm just a lowly grunt at the dealership.
