Where to find a vintage bicycle frame...?
Where to find a vintage bicycle frame...?
Ok guys, my latest project involves the use of a 26" bicycle frame...how do you identify a 26" frame? Im guessing wheel diameter maybe? Project consists of taking a bicycle and mounting this kit onto it:

To look something like:

One of my buddies here at school did it a while back,,pretty easy overall. Also, wheres the best place to find a really cool, old-school bicycle frame? Antique shops, yard sales, etc?
Give me some ideas guys!

Either antique shops, or perhaps a junkyard. Or you could take a newer retro frame and use it. Yes, bikes are labled by their tire size. This looks like a bad-a project, so take lots of pics and keep us informed. Good luck.
its pretty sweet, im looking at Cruiser frames, etc on ebay...$150 plus is what i'm seeing. Basically I'm tired of walking 1/2 mile to class every time I have class and when i pedal bike up there, im sweating when I get there. This will be a happy medium.
You get some weird looks rolling through campus on a busy day after classes let out with no muffler on one of these things...people are like
they rock!

I'm starting to think cruiser frame...something like:

Thing is, Id hate to spend 275 bucks on a NEW frame thats already painted, fully assembled, etc. It'd be cooler if i found an older, scuffed up one that I could paint myself, and add some custom touches to....
what do y'all think??

Thanks a lot Zap....
kinda weird, i was talking to my mom the other day and she said that she found one of your CD's you sent me and she had it in playing and she liked it.
As for the bike, I need 26" as listed above, and I really like the big cruiser look...I need to find out where I can get one of these complete older, rougher frames instead of buying a brand new shiny one that Im just going to chop up
If you find anything good, le t me know, Ill pay!
