Dogs
Here's Pete. I prefer a female dog but Pete looks like my last dog Sandy.

Pete is 3yrs old; a heeler. I want a younger dog too but Heelers live longer than many other breeds...12-15yrs.

Amother vote for Pete as long as you have a few acres fro him to run in. They are very smart and they typically dont get to old to teach them new tricks.
We're suckers; we applied for Pete and his buddy Eddie. Eddie is a Red Heeler. The picture I have of Eddie doesnt do him justice so you'll have to wait.
Three day adoption process but I cant imagine we'll get turned down.

The hype about this type of dog or that type of dog being a natural killer is BS. I have owned and trained numerous "killer" dogs and NOT ONE has bit or even been menacing towards anyone.
Train your dog!

) Our previous husky was a loner and a running SOB. A good clue with a husky pups is if you can carry it on it's back without it struggling and then put it down and it plays with strange little kids it'll be a good one.
The two of them together (the older one is gone now)

what an uneducated, overhyped respnse.
ALL dogs are capable of biting. But there is a huge difference in being bitten by a Chihuahua, Black Lab and a Pitbull.
A child would survive a Black Lab bite.
The same can't necessarily be said for "killing dogs" like pitbulls and Ridgebacks.

I could train a chiuaha (sp?) to take you down and kill you. It would be a "killing dog" too. Would it have to work harder? Absolutly, but it's not exempt just because it's small.
Owners of smaller dogs typically have them for one reason, "companionship" so they are raised in a loving enviroment often very very pamepered. Some owners of larger dogs get them for the presence for protection. They are raised a little less comforting and less pampered.
Edited to add:
Those that have any aggressive dog(s), of any breed, if they have kids then thier kids are likley agressive too. It wouldn't matter what breed of a dog they got, it's just thier lifestyle, it's going to be agressive or get hurt alot. Put any animal including humans in that lifestyle and they will become agressive.

If you are approved to adopt Pete and Eddie you will definitely have your hands full! Don't get me wrong, of the dogs you listed Pete and Eddie would have been my first choices also.
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a hound and no matter how often you bathe them, hounds have a very distinctive doggy odor. The Boxer/Shepherd mix, I've just never been a fan of Boxers, big slobbery drooly jowls. . .yuck!
But back to having your hands full. . .Australian Cattle dogs are extremely energetic dogs that require large amounts of daily exercise or they tend to become destructive because they get bored. Hope you're up for lots of fetch and long walks!! That is one of the biggest reasons that they end up in shelters to begin with, they are just too active for some people to handle.
Good luck with the adoption, hope Pete and Eddie make great additions to your family!
