Athens ISD has a dress code, and I think it's a good thing. I have a dress code at work. I had a dress code when I was in the Marine Corps - even when I was on liberty. A dress code is something that would be good for children to get used to now. They might end up having to work in an environment that has a dress code, and instead of throwing a damn crybaby fit about it, just do as you are supposed to. That's life. School is to learn. It's not a stupid fashion show. I didn't have a dress code when I went to school, but I think it would have been a good idea.

I went through 12 years of Catholic school and wore a uniform throughout. It never bothered me and kept the emphasis on learning instead of what everyone was wearing. I feel public schools should definitely have some type of "school uniform" too. With all the taxes we pay I'm sure a portion of that could be spent for uniforms.

Jordan....arguably the best freaking basketball player in the history of the game

No argument. He's the best Sumbeach to ever lace up a pair of sneakers. I know this isn't what this thread is about but I had to add my 2 cents worth.

I know whatcha mean. It's disgusting. You never wear a bra with a tank top.

Go one step further, the company's making these clothes, selling them, and advertising them to these kids. My daughter goes to catholic school, and let me tell you that I love the idea of school uniforms.

Around 1967 my wife and I were in the 7th grade. Hot Pants were in, boys loved them and my wife wore them. I never heard what parents thought but I still remember certain girls who wore them. They were in style. For those of you who don't know what they are, they were a very short pair of shorts. The pant legs were shorter than the crotch and skin tight. We're talkin camel toe here. Mini-skirts came out next and the girls wore them. We also went through the Bra Movement at the time also.

Generations are much different now. My young niece always works on my wife to work on her Dad to let her wear mini-skirts, mid-drifts, tank tops and heavy makeup. My wife doesn't get involved and she doesn't approve of it. But in 1967 my wife would have worn them.

A 10 year old wearing a mini-skirt isn't illegal and it doesn't give a boy the right to rape her. It doesn't make her a skank. Do we really wanna create more government controls? I don't.

Thank God we had boys and not any girls.

Your lucky man.
I have 2 girls, and a 12 GA.
We have one on the way, and I hope it's a boy (keeping my fingers crossed). I dont know what I am gonna do if we have another girl.

No to uniforms. Would you want your employer to say that men must wear blue jumpsuits? No difference. Kids are also protected under the Constitution. I don't agree with a lot of things today but I put up with it because we are a free society. I like it that way. I'm a life NRA member and don't think you need a cannon to hunt deer with. But I think those who want them are entitled to own them.

Sorry, but I'm getting away of the thread at hand.

Every company that I have ever worked for has a dress code, or Dress Policy.

If you saw what I saw the other day, you may want to rethink that. It wasn't pretty. Maybe not "uniforms", but there definitely needs to be some sort of "real" dress code in place.

If it turns out to be another girl you won't love her any less! My wife wanted one of each and especially a girl most of all. She wouldn't trade either of our sons for a girl. Healthy is the most important thing.

Now was it just me or did we all count the fingers and toes to make sure there was all 10?

I understand the employer issue, but I work in the financial world and we do have a dress code. Again, I agree with love trucks, uniforms in schools allow children to concentrate on learning.

I know what you mean but I believe in freedom of choice as long as it doesn't harm someone else.

My youngest sons senior year in high school had a dress code. Not uniforms but a dress code. Neither one of my kids ever dressed like a bum. So I was furious about it because of a few individuals. I felt the staff should have had to abide by the same code. But they didn't. What the hell ever happened to leading by example? It was replaced with do as I say, not as I do.

If they threw the trouble makers out of school they wouldn't need a dress code. If my son didn't follow the dress code he would have been expelled. Why can't they expell the trouble makers. Teachers are there to teach and not babysit. You toss these bad kids out and keep them out. I don't care what their parents say.
