I really don't eat all that much, I just eat all the wrong stuff. I really need to slow it down or I will regret it.

Jamz, you still have the diabetes under control?

You have a good memory Jim.

Well, it was brought to my attention by my doctor, that I will never have it under control. You know what I say to that?

Eat my shorts.

Since the day I was told I have it, I have been eating right, exercising, and keep a good track of my health. I started out taking 3 shots a day, and taking 3 pills. Now I only take 1 shot before bed time. The shot before bedtime started with 24 units. After a few months, I am down to 6 units and 1 pill a day. It's going pretty good. I have a gut feeling that with proper diet, I might be able to drop taking shots all together. Most say no, I say watch and see.

You have a great attitude about it and you are correct. Diet is everything. I have been able to observe it first hand. Not me, as I like everything that is bad for you, but my wife, she has been a vegan(eats nothing animal, not even cheese) for many years. She weighs 105 lbs and her blood pressure is better than most teenagers. She is 63, and when she goes to the doctor for her check up, he just shakes his head. She eats only whole grain bread, we both drink skim milk. She also drinks lots of soy milk(not me!). Just yesterday, I was reading a study where they compared different types of diets over 22 years and vegans had by far the least weight gain. I eat lots more vegatables than I used to and can go for a few meals with no meat, but then I have to have a hamburger or when I am playing golf, a hot dog. Anyhow, I admire your determination to take less medicine and controll the problem with diet. It can be done and you will be better off for it.

Jamz I believe in you, I'm not a big fan of medicine. Sometimes it's necessary, and temporary doses are required. You are disciplined enough to take care of yourself. Keep the shots around because sometimes spikes and lows can happen with out reason. My great grandpa had diabetes and lived to 92 he rarely took a shot and never took a pill. He put himself on a strict diet and eating schedule. He ate his meals at the exact same time everyday, or had a snack handy incase he couldn't stop and eat. Watched his intake and he was fine.

Bluejay, I'm right there with you bud, I eat everything that is bad for me. My last physical last month. Only thing that was bad was my cholesterol. It was to low! Yes, they said it was to low... But it is my good cholesterol that is low, my bad is a little high. I am eating one extra fruit a day to raise the good which is suppose to lower the bad and kind of balance them out. I smoke like a freight train and eat lots of sweets, fats and proteins. Rarely eat fast food out though. My fast food is microwaveable stuff from the freezer. If I go out then it's a restaurant or diner.

Must be something wrong with me, I just turned down a free lunch at a steakhouse so I could stay here and eat my cheese sandwich and Dr Pepper, chips, Chocolate fried pie and tangelo. I think I have been eating out too much lately. Or, maybe it was because the invite was from our insurance carrier. Or maybe it was because I would be away from this site. Whatever, I must be ill.
