How long has it been since you've been to Charleston? You never forget some things. The smell, the sand gnats, pluff mud, the heat, and the seafood!

I was there about 3 years ago, when my father passed away. He wanted to be buried back home. It was in June. It was a shame to see how much of the woodlands had been destroyed to make way for development. We went to the Crab Shack at Folley and I sat there with my best friend from high school, thinking back on how we used to cut school and hang out at 10th St down on Folley, drinking beer all day and working on our tans... I told my wife that I want to make a roadtrip out there during the springtime someday, rather than the summer, so she can see the flowers in bloom... A sight to be seen.
I lived in charleston prior to moving to ATL, and my inlaws and best friends all still live there so I go back frequently.
82 Queen is a nice, but small resturant. Their salad sucks, but the food is excellent. Charleston Chops is an excellent choice, as well as Carolina's. I've never eaten there, but there is a place called the Bubba Gump Shrimp Facotry, seemed nice. The tours are well, touristy. You can walk the battery and waterfront park yourself without having to listen to all the BS the guide will tell you, unless you really want to hear it. Rainbow row and the battery do have some interesting points on the carriage ride. You also have the USS Yorktown just accross the bride in Mt Pleasant. The bridge is actually the new one, just opened a few months ago, and they have all but demolished the old cooper river bridge (man, that thing was rickety too) If you like old war stuff, I think they still do tours of the wreckage of the USS Hunley they unearthed. If you want anymore info from an ex-charlestonian (you're never really ex-charlestonian, you just don't live there anymore) then drop me a line at stang99x@yahoo.com) My mother in law runs a shop down in the Market. (you should walk the market to, lots of neat junk to crowd the house with)

98Navi, how long did you live there? We moved there in 73 and I moved to AZ in 91... Went to Middleton High...
It's true what you said about never being an EX-Charlestonian... I've lived in AZ almost as long as I did back there, but Chucktown is still and always will be home. At least you stayed down home... I went and moved way out here, next to them wierdo Californians...
