Whats killing SVT as well as other perfomance divisions is the lack of people buying new. Everybody wants these performance vehicles but eveyone buys used instead of new so the new vehicles get discontinued. I have a 2005 Bonneville GXP (GM Performance) and I have seen 2 within the past year.

In this current bodystyle, I think I've seen 6 Bonnevilles in teh past 3-4 years. Used to be my favorite car... I would have given away a toe for a brand new white, 1992 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi, in 1992.
They don't make'em like they used to...
It seems odd that ford is doing this given Chevy and Dodge both have special vehicles that seem to so well in sales. This year almost all Chevy's have an SS option, and Dodge being the same with all the SRT8's.
Listen, we all might as well get it and joing the rest of the world with highly fuel efficient cars. You guys wait till oil is 100 bucks a barrell and remember who told you this. I saw someone say $1.50 a gallon of gas on here. NO WAY THAT IS GOING TO MATRICULATE. I am in the gas business and we just had a large meeting, guys the world is getting real ugly when it comes to crude and natural gas.
The sky isn't fallying reality is just setting in.

Just because SOME women aren't mechanically inclined doesn't mean ALL women aren't. Heck I've known plenty guys in my life who couldn't tell me where the oil goes, or how to check it, even if I labeled everything. And don't get me started on guys who can't change a tire.[/rant off]
As for SVT, its a shame that can't budget it in. IT truely would be a huge asset to keep at least a couple people in the SVT department just to keep some 110 octane fuel running through the veins.

Its an absolute attrocity when a company does something like this. Look at the greater picture right now......How many cars are coming out with over 300HP these days? A ton of them are, and they get scooped up like nobody's business. A perfect example with the Adrenaline, and they had a concept Navigator a couple years back, called the Navigator K. It was a
385HP Navi totin the Lightning SVT motor. Man, I'd a been first in line for that puppy, behind only those superstars with millions of bucks who buy chit before it comes out. Who the hell wants a 97HP honda anyway? Let greenpeace and those other commies have their electric cars and move to iceland for all I care. Look at the mustangs of past for example, the Cobra R's. A limited production run of jacked up stallions on bull hormones that tear the pavement apart that you can't even get they are so wanted. That last one, the 01 R, was over $75K and availability was 0. I actually saw one that a dealer manager bought solely for resale and it was badazz. So, what do you do when you have a line of vehicle so sought after you can't make enough of them? In American ideaology, apparently you give it the axe.

The only other time I saw something that stupid, was when GM/Chevy axed the Caprice Classic, thereby assassinating the Impala SS. erradicating the police sales- and handing that over to Ford and the Crown Vic (Which may also get whacked) lock, stock & barrell...
God knows if I had known a pristine Caprice Classic in 2001, with 25,000 miles on it, would fetch more on the used car market than the car costed brand new, I would have gotten that car instead of the Maxima in 1997, and prayed I didn't go 0 for 3 with GM, having already gone 0 for 2... I had two shots at an Impala SS, and I turned it down, twice. Once due to ignorance (1994; when I could've had the first one to hit Killeen, TX) and once due to arrogance (1996, when I wouldn't let them take may Cutlass in a trade, by offering me $200 more than it was worth), which was the last brand new Impala SS sold in Killeen, TX (Jan 1997; the last 1996 was on the lot at Connell Chevrolet).
Talk about suicide...

I think alot of you guys are letting your emotions get in the way. SVT is going away for one thing: SLOW SALES. The last year of the L was '04 and there were still a few '04s left on lots a year after production ended in may '04. This is the same reason the SRT-4 and other cars have gone away. Everyone loves the fast cars/trucks but how many of you actually own them? Couple that with waaaaay overpriced earthjuice to power them and you have slow sales.
