Letting off Steam...

So 2 weeks ago driving a couple girls home some a$$hole throws a golf ball at my truck going through the headlight and breaking the bulb. Well I replaced both headlight housings and go a new silverstar ($85) later - Thank god for Ebay; then I spent an hour aiming my headlights back to where they were (the rubber adjusters were puched out of the back of the houseing by the force of the golf ball). Well anyway, today (had my truck fixed for about a week) on the way to the gym, 3 people have screwed with me about the brightness of my headlights. First guy decides to flip his brights at me and keep them on, I turn on my brights (along with lows and fogs), all the saw where his hands blocking my lights. Second guy ( and girlfriend) is in front of me and decides to give me brake tests, he quickly learned I wasnt messing around when I damn near pushed him off the road after he brake checked me for about the 5th time. 3rd guy (and girlfriend) decide to wave hands and brake check (by now I am STEAMING) I flipped on my brights and got to about his bumper and let him know that THOSE were my brights and I did have my low beams on, then I turned off into the gym. I know that I probably shouldnt have messed with the second guy but he got the best of me. Needless to say I had a good workout . What does everyone think I should have done with the second guy, Keep in mind I am only 16.

I think when you are close enough for somebody to brake check you, you should slow down a little and back off so you're not so close.

Then, if you get to live long enough to make it to 17, you'll adjust your headlights properly so you're not a PIA to everyone you are following too closely behind.

And this, my friend, is the result of being 16 and asking some grumpy old fart like me for his oipinion. Then again, putting your brights on and running up close behind me would probably have given you another opportunity to replace your headlights, bulbs, and possibly a couple of teeth.

Aggressive driving doesn't make you a man, and having your headlights aimed too high makes you an ***.

Care to ask for any more of my opinions? I got plenty!

geez man, calm your anger down on the road! I didn't know they still gave 16 year olds there license

have you ever thought to yourself maybe the reason why that one guy was brake checking you was maybe because you were following to close?

I can understand the one guy flashing his high beams at you as I also have silver star lights and get flashed at least once a night by cars thinking I have my brights on. There cool lights but people think we have our brights on.

and why the heck didn't you stop when someone put a golf ball through your headlight? I would have slammed on the brakes and chased down who ever it was! did you stop at all??

I wasnt too close, I was about 4 car lengths away, but he was locking them up going from 45 to about 20 every time. As for the golf ball, I pulled a u turn and followed 4 cars, but there was nothing I could do, I couldnt prove anything. Probably some immature kids with nothing better to do. Also, my headlights are aimed properly, they are exactly the same as when they came out fo the factory. I counted the number of threads on each bolt so the adjustment is exactly the same as it was for the last 155,000 miles....

I wasnt trying to **** anyone off by shining them, I am just trying to show that I dont ahve my brights on. I probably handeled the 3rd guy in a bad way, but I was already pissed off from the first two people. BTW I have never once had anyone mess with me about my lights before tonight...

I've got 5 dollars says you don't make it to 18 if you keep acting like that.

lol I made some mistakes I will admit that. But in my opinion the second and third guys took it too far. I wouldnt have done anything had they not repeatedly slammed on their brakes. They knew my low beams were on.

four car lenght's at 45mph is two close....he hit's the brakes, 1/2 to a sec for you to react 3 sec for your truck to stop depending on speed and whieght of your truck..+ the 1/2 sec head start by the car in front of you...I don't beleave you want to pay for a back bumper and a new pair of of fancey bulbs...

Well thats around 80ft. AVG stopping distance is around 150ft for my truck at 60mph. I am just glad I was paying attention and I was as far back as I was the first time he did it.

I'm not a mathmatical guy but a high performance car, porsh, mustang, Corvette can stop in under 120 feet at 60 mph, your truck and mine can not stop in 150 ft at 60 mph...any time you hit a car from behind, or any rear half of it from the driver or passenger door your 99.9% at fault in proving your objection to the reaction of your pretty head lights....

I agree if you rear end someone your 99.9% at fault. As for the 150 ft statistic - I found it on google.

compare you headlights with an other truck against a wall.

If three dif, people ar bothered by your lights i waould say they are out of adjustment.

Just my 2 cents.

I am planning on doing just that. I have a few friends with trucks so I'll compare to theirs. But the weird thing is, I have never once been messed with about my lights until today. Been driving for a week with the new ones.

Were on Google? I'm curious, How ever all performance test are conducted in a controled setting were all out side varibals are pretty much eliminated....Thier's no lose grave on the test track, ect, in the real world type of tire and inflation, condition of brake pads, wet or icey roads increase the 150 ft braking distance goggle claims....you foolish to expect your truck can stop in a 150 ft just because google say's it can.
