Rush didn't say he was for it, he said that economically it is a good deal, but politically there is no chance.

When I first heard this story on the news they made it sound like the Bush administration was selling these ports to the UAE. That's obviously not the case. To many people jump to conclusions before hearing more of the story.
Is there reason for concern? Perhaps. I want to see more information given with these news stories. I think people would do better to come to conclusions based on the facts instead of emotion.

You would have to understand Bush on this one. When Bush has an "hidden agenda", and locks in on something, all the persuasion in the world ain't going to do any good. Mark my word..
Bush turns on his tunnel vision and that's all she wrote..

I think the phrase you were after is "that's all she wrote".
During wartime, soldiers would sometime get a 'Dear John' letter.
So called because the significant other was ending the relationship.
After the letter wase read aloud the phrase "that's all she wrote" was uttered.
Through time the phrases,
'Dear John letter' and 'that's all she wrote' came to mean 'it's over' etc...

Well said.....Just because the U.A.E. is located in the middle-east and just because there were 2 hijackers involved in 9/11 and just because some money was laundered there does not mean that the entire country is a Terrorist state.
...in fact, the U.A.E. is one of our STRONGEST allies.....how do you think this story is playing out in their minds.....all of the press that is comming out is RACIST....it is a very negative political message that we are sending them.....it is a message that is saying that just because you are arab....we are imediately going to say you are a terrorist until proven otherwise....how is that an "american" ideal?
I find it very interesting that the press is only telling one side of this story (go figure) and not explaining to the public how Ports actually are run....

An arab company responsible for our ports. Hmmm, common sense tells me it's going to be soooo much easier for a future terrorist attack. America is doomed when all we have to choose from is Skerry and GWB.

Why would they release this kind of info?
Oh well, I can't be concerned with that now.
I forgot my lunch money and will probably have to go back home today.
Good thing I don't lock the doors and keep about $400 cash in the drawer beside the dishwasher. I'll be going to get it at noon, that's about two and a half hours from now.
I've got to say the more I've read....(like I said I hadn't looked into it yesterday) the more I think this is a non-issue. Security looks completely unaffected by the deal.
I'm leaning toward the belief that we are all in an uproar simply because they are Arabs buying the ports....hmmmm...wouldn't that be wrong?
I'm not fully convinced yet....still listening to both sides debate this bad boy out but my general rule is if both Dems and GOPers agree it must be wrong.

What is the big deal about this?
All it means is that some port operations and managenet function will transfer to another company.
Security at the ports will still be handled by the Dept of Homeland Security regardless of who the operator is.
Some of this is making it sound like every American will be fired and all the new workers will be recruited from the Taliban.

UAE already has enough money...Look what they're spending it on

300 artificial islets laid out like a map of the world. There's France, Florida, Ohio, even a mini-Antarctica baking in the 80-degree heat.
The $14 billion project that is reshaping this segment of the Persian Gulf coast is the world's largest land reclamation effort and the focus of one of its most fanciful land rushes.
