Drove downtown Baltimore...On the sidewalk

I drove into Baltimore this weekend. The trip wasn't too bad until we hit some traffic inside the beltway. I was meeting a friend at one of the hotels by the inner harbor. I called him on his cell phone and found out he was already at the hotel. He tells me I missed it (which I didn't). Now, I'm on a one way street. I need to get over one block so I can backtrack. I'm in the left turn lane, when I hear an ambulance siren. I can't tell where it is, because I can't see anything, but when the city bus behind me starts flashing his lights and honking his horn, I have a pretty good idea where it is. I'm just outside Camden yard and the light rail tracks are directly in front of me. And, oh yes, the light's red. So I did what any caring citizen would do... I drove up onto the sidewalk and made about a 20 point U-Turn. I was kinda wigged out at the time, but can laugh at it now.
Now how many people can say they drove on the sidewalk in Baltimore's inner harbor?

Well I never drove on the sidewalk there, but I have been to the Inner Harbor. Great place isn't it? I had lots of fun there. Went to Camden Yards too. Really nice stadium.

I can, and do!! I park my bikes on the sidewalks all the time when I eat lunch at the inner harbor. And they have a college down there too, and I park my truck right on the sidewalk. ESPN, is another place I go on the pavement!!

I am the big cheese in Bmore!!!

Baltimore is a craphole. I attended a convention there about 2.5 years ago and stayed at a fancy highrise motel downtown by the inner harbor and 3 blocks from the convention center. Almost 100% people like CEHoward, the only place I felt safe was in the convention center. Some kind local resident (I won't mention his skin color) tried to mug me and a buddy, he didn't figure on us being tree climbers in deceptively good physical condition.

Anyway, CEH and his racist friends can have BaltiCrapmore, they have already ruined it. I will never go back. Locals crapping on the sidewalk because they were too lazy to find a bathroom.

SOME parts of Baltimore are not THAT bad. I stayed in Timonium and worked in Towson. Granted MLK drive and South York st and parts of downtown were very GHETTO But not EVERYTHING about it is bad. Every city has a good and a side you want to stay away from. The inner harbor is one of the oldest ports in the United States(since the 1600's) and the first common carrier Railroad was built in Maryland in 1828. I Don't think we should insult everyone 'casue they live there. The U.S. flag was made there, the star spangled banner was written becasue of events that happened at Fort McHenry. The USS Constellation the last Sail vessel built by the U.S. Navy is there. Maryland offers alot of rich History and places to see, but along with that is Eastern Charm which is difficult to understand by many."When in Rome... do as the Romans" .

Dang RJ....that was harsh....actually we have a name for the people you describe....Baltimorons.

The area you were in wasn't bad though. You can walk from Ravens Stadium to Fells Point and you shouldnt be concerned for your safety. The Inner Harbor and surrounding areas are really well policed because it is essentially Baltimore's only toursist attraction. The Science Center, National Aquarium, ESPN Zone, etc.

Now just because a few years back the local FOP office was giving out

"Welcome to Baltimore, Enter at your own Risk" shouldn't scare you off

I go in the city and get out fast....
