Thanks for the info! Good to know...I haven't seen too much of that available here in Sunny San Diego though. Maybe someday soon.

Actually there are quite a few vehicles that can run E85 and the owners aren't even aware of it, here's a place you can check to see if yours can

It's probably easier to find an E85 compatible vehicle than it is to find E85 still, there just aren't that many stations carrying it yet.

There, I brought up the "ours is higher than yours because I live in a foreign country" comment.
NNorm, I think your calculation is a little out, unless your gas prices are around 2.00 per litre. Here, in Southern BC, prices are around .95cdn/L. for 87 octane

3.78L=1gal.US

.95x3.78=3.59cdn

using a handy dandy online currency converter I found out that today, 3.59cdn=3.16US

please, please, tell me the price of gas isn't that high in the Yukon...

Welllll................ My calculations were a bit off. Our reg.gas is $1.25/l and Supreme is about $1.50/l. I guess that makes it about $4.73Cdn/Us gal. Then add $.10 for exchange and you get $5.20/US gal. (today) for Reg. and $6.24/US gal.
Still rediculous to the extreme, no matter what way you slice it.

I'm pleased when it costs me less than $50 to fill up a week, and I see lots of cars that can run E85, just no stations. I've seen one, but it's 100 miles away.

What's ironic is that Canada is one of, if not the, largest suppliers of oil to the US. Yet the cost there is higher....silly canadians...oil is for us

Obviously spoken by someone with something smaller than the 37.5 gallon tank...

put in 32 gallons this morning @ $2.139 per gallon. Hadn't filled it since noon yesterday, when I put in an even $70 because the lowest priced gas I could find was $2.249...

That's because Canada is really TAXada. They have to make that money to give everyone healthcare and other social programs that our country doesn't have.

Any Great White Northerners wanna chime in on your tax rates?

Yeah, those Canadians and taxes. Thank God I live in a country where corporate greed is the cause of any high prices !!!

BTW, according to some of the Canadian students I've talked, what each Canadian actually pays in taxes to support their healthcare system is pretty much in line what you or I would be paying for similar care in the private sector.

If every employer in the US stopped offering insurance period, even the republicans would be demanding some sort of government program. And considering that American companies have scraped about as much as they can in wage concessions, short of moving everything south, the next big wave of shareholder appeasement is going to be hitting American workers right in the healthcare pocket.

I don't know if you have Spurt & Splits where you're at, or if they participate, but the local one sells pre-paid gas cards that give you a $0.03/gal discount, since all the stations around here are the same price and their always the first to lower, last to raise, I always get the cheapest price (which ain't so cheap, but it beats the half pricing of the 70's).

I got lucky when I bought my truck, dealer offers free fill up with purchase, I beat him into filling both tanks. About the time that ran out, Ames had a serious price war start and for about a month I was paying around $1.99.

Today $2.29, up from $2.09 two days ago.

But even still, natural gas is the killer for me, didn't have time to get all the windows replaced and a new furnace in last year, my January gas bill was $435.00, with the stat set at 68.

25 gallons, I usually go through 21 a week, so it's about $45 a week. But, gas just jumped up to $2.299 a gal, so hopefully it'll go down by next week, I just filled up last night before it went up.

1.25cdnx3.785l=$4.73Cdn/US gal. in Canada. Our Cdn$ is only .8 US$. so add .20/dollar=$5.68Cdn/US gal.(regular gas)
1.50cdnx3.785l=$5.68Cdn/US gal. in Canada. +20%=$6.82Cdn/US gal.

That is assuming that you will find anyone offering 20% exchange rate. The 20% is International Bank rate. Businesses would probably charge 25 - 30% exchange rate.
