Okay, stay with me on this one.... The boom was facing the other way (180 out) from it's position, not sticking straight up. In fact, it was probable about a 35 degree angle. It hit the bottom of the overpass, stuck and traveled through it's arc until it penetrade the bed of the overpass. Any questions?

Yeah I'm still lost. Are you saying it was going down the road and the tip of the crane boom caught a low side of the overpass and then sent the boom itself skyward through the bottom of the roadway? I guess it's possible. But how did the crane stay on the flatbed? Seems to me like the flatbed would have kept going and left the crane behind. But I guess the driver could have realized at the last minute he wasn't gonna make it and hit the brakes.

the crane is chained to whats left of the trailer

the weight of the excavator being forced thru the trailer to the ground would be enough to keep it there..

Yeah, its a lowboy trailer so theres a good foot or foot and a half drop after the wheels of the trailer...so im sure that also helped keep it on.

Ya know I thought I was losing it for a minute. I thought "how in the hell did I not see that drawing (artist rendering ) before my response"?

It didn't start out as a Lowboy.

Now it's a Lowboy/Lowrider!
