BigHersh, great reply and well understood.

I understand BET and JET (well, you know I don't really watch it of read it or REALLY understand it) but the premise at the time was well justified considering what TV shows and magazines were out. They all considered the perfect body and family as white, that was it. Besides the Huckstables (sp) there was no outlet for a large majority of the AMERICAN RACE. BET and JET set out to change that, and to a large degree I beleive they have. But the long and short of this story no matter how close or open minded you are. Racism IS alive and well in AMERICA. If you have listened to Bill COsby of late he brought up this same exact instance.

Personally, I would never use the word. I don't find it fitting for anyone, I also want my daughter to never here me utter the word so she automatically knows its wrong in any situation, because it is in my eyes.

Indeed... I heard Bill, and he was right...
I understand his point fully, and even I don't use it that often, and never in general conversation, and only in private among close friends...
