This is simple. I had this debate a few years back on a political board.

Part of the actual definition of the word is as follows:

Used as a disparaging term for a member of any socially, economically, or politically deprived group of people: “Gun owners are the new ******s... of society”

Therefore we must derive the meaning of the word. The actual meaning of the word ****** is an ignorant or stupid person of little or no worth.

The word was used on slaves because they were lowly educated. The worth was actually quite great at the time. The word began its downfall to what it is today, "the N word," after the KKK used it in the 60's. Of course, at that point you still had segregated schools and low education levels among blacks, so by the definition it still fit.

Bottom line is this. THere are black ******s, white ******s, mexican ******s and so forth. Anyone can be an ignorant azzhole and fit under the defintion of the word. But god forbid you're white and use that word, you might as well then tatoo KKK accross your *** and down your arm. Cause you also comitted a hate crime, calling someone something that they fit the definition thereof.

 

I wasn't amening to getting rid of BET. I was amening to the double standard. I don't have a problem whatsoever with BET. Hell I even watch it every now and then.

I think it’s sad BUT rappers have given EVERYBODY, specifically kids, permission to use the N word as they wish. Its ok, it’s cool to use the N word now. To be called the N word, or more specifically *****, is to be considered a very cool person, someone in the loop, someone that is accepted.

Don’t mean to offend anyone with the slang above but as far as I am concerned the N word is no longer a racial slur and hasn’t been for about the last 5 – 10 years. Rappers don’t mind so why should anyone else.

 

I was not stating that we should get rid of BET or JET, i was simply stating that if there was a white alternative of the two media forms, then they wouldn't last a week.

Hey Hersh, I am just wondering WHY black people think it's ok to call each other *****/******? I've got a lot of black friends but I dont consider them ******s but when they are having a conversation they do call each other the N word quite often. It really boggles my mind
