What to do?
What to do?
So I'm in the 'evil empire' (Walmart) and throw some stuff in the buggy. It's pushing the fire code limit for the number of people in the place, and my two youngest are on their worst behavior. I finally make it to the check out line and throw my things on the register (all 7 of them). Anyways, I pay, and then head home. As I pull in my driveway, I realze that I was not charged for an item. Now, it's not a very expensive item at $25, but what is the right answer here? What would y'all do?
Yeah, on Belay is going to be surprised by this answer after another thread we discussed, but you should have explained to your kids what happened and immediately went back to Wal-Mart ( I also feel they are evil but moral standards are one thing especially when you have kids.)

How did you get it passed the little ole lady at the front door? Around here they go through every bag. No matter what I buy, the freaking alarm goes off. It's not a metal detector, but I swear they have it programed to detect guns....
To bad WW doesn't sell ****. I'd love to buy a sack full and see the ole ladies face when she opened that bag!
And as for your question, teach your kids to do the right thing.

If your children know about it, then by all means take it to the store and pay for it...be sure to take them along. If they don't know about...and in my above reply I was assuming they didn't..then keep it.

More than likely the item you weren't charged for was only worth 8.00 anyway, and their scanners have no doubt overcharged people more than under. I know this is what happens to me, I have been overcharged for things there more than anywhere else.
I don't think it is a moral issue, had you not looked at you slip you wouldn't have known if you were or were not charged.
As for all of the people today telling people today to do the moral thing, they all need to look in the mirror, as they are no better then the rest of us. I see things everyday, that confirms my opinion to myself.

When I shop I keep a mental running total guesstimate of what's in the basket. I just round to the next dollar and allow for some tax at the end. Seven items and a $25 diff would have jumped out at me when the total was announced and I would have corrected the error then. Even if it escaped me at the register and I was in the parking lot, I'd go back in.
However, the nearest Walmart is 14 miles away. No way in hell am I driving 28 miles at 16 miles per gallon to give Walmart $25.
How far down the road before I'd turn around?
Considering it's two light cycles to get out of the Walmart parking lot, I'd say once I escaped the surrounding traffic congestion that comes with all Walmarts they'd be out of luck.
Oh and my kids don't know my business unless I want them to.
A full disclosure life with your children is a recipe for disaster.
If we're still in the parking lot, I'd make sure the kids knew why we were going back inside.
If we are on the road it's, "Hey kids, who wants ice cream?"

I've dealt with the situation before. Was it your fault? yes and no. you didn't take it out of the buddy BUT you walked by at LEAST 2 people (cashier and people greeter) who should have noticed it. If you called back up, I'd appreciate you for your honesty and integrity. Thank you for shopping at Wal mart and ask for the UPC. That way I could take it out of our system (i'm an inventory control freak) It's as simple as that. Same thing if you were to walk back into the store. But that's me. (and what a coincidence that the sponsored link at the bottom of this thread is for walmart.com)
