Almost got mine once cutting a small branch and supporting it with my foot. I still use the boot that has the chain marks in it. Didn't go all the way thru, but there is now a deep gouge (sp?) in my rubber boots. Never get in a hurry.

I use the kick back plate for leverage. So when it does kick back it hasnt even kicked back out of the cut. Plus I lock my arm so it has to push my entire upper body so even if it does kick out of the log then it's not getting close to me.

UC..serioulsy man..for all the work you have to do, you couldnt pay me enough to do it with just that stupid **** little saw you have pictured. It will take you all weekend, your hands will be blistered to no end and you'll use more swear words than you ecer thought imagineable.

I would...A, suck it up, and take this as a good reason to learn how to use a chainsaw...its not as bad as you think..I was using them when I was 14 years old.

Or...B, Just pay the guy the 500 beans and be done with it.

If you were closer, I would come do it for you..

You are an ignorant fool. People like you are exactly why I don't work for homeowners. You are an idiot and will likely injure yourself, bust your house or simply be incapable of doing the job at all. Your complete lack of knowledge concerning this line of work, yet your presumption that you could do the job in 8 hours is laughable and insulting at the same time.

Bye folks.

Bye folks.
But its job security for everyone else. Think of all those people that just got laid off from ford and are now working in construction. They would be delighted to come repair the damages from a few trees going through the house.

Two Words: Det Cord {aka Detonation Cord]

Wrap it around the base of the tree, use sandbags as the tamper around it, yell fire in the hole, and detonate the cord. It will be cut clean as if you used a scalpel. Although the neighbors might object to the boom and the local, state, and federal authorities will definitely come a’ knockin.

Woof [or in this case Boom!]

I'm sure if she is that good of a woman, she won't laugh at your lack of skills. She may even fake it for you so you don't get a complex.

I had someone come out to give me an Estimate. Beejebas!

Front yard tree $200 to trim
Side of house tree $100 to Trim

Other: Crab apple tree in back yard. $150 to cut down $70 to grind stump.

Looks like I'm going to have to do this myself. I'm afraid of chain saws though so it might not be easy.

See, that's where you went wrong, you bought a house with just a few troublesome trees. I bought a house with 12 acres of trees and there are a few troublesome ones here too (really, really tall trees waaaayyy to close to the house) Difference is, I can get a logger to come in and take out the troublesome trees and a few others to make it worth his time. . .and. . .I get paid for it!!! Lumber is big money, going to call a logger once spring break-up is through.
