clutch help

OK, i have a 90 f-150. i think the clutch is out, but i want to make shure its the clutch. ok, its not having any problems going into gear. but when you take off, the gear slips real bad, and you move verry slow at a high RPM.

i want to make shure its the clutch before i go and buy one.

thanks

Hey Pal, There's a whole world out there. Post your question in the Late Model

https://www.f150online.com/forums/pre-1997-models-51/

Or Transmission section.

When did a 1990 become a late model again?

The other would be really good place to start.

First thing have you checked your Clutch Fluid Level?

Come on Matt - You know that was a link to 1997 and Older which is considered Late Model on here or they would have a forum specifically for it.

I was just giving you a hard time.

But late model is 1997-current.

Pre 1997 is simply considered old. LOL

Most likley it is the pressure plate, which comes in the clutch kit and might as well install the whole kit wit hnew clutch since you have to be in there anyway.
But... there is an off chance that the slave cylinder or even the master cylinder could be sticking, not allowing the clutch to engage. On some vehicles the slave is mounted extrenally and this would be easy to diagnos if that is the case. How ever I do not know which way these are. So you will need to go ask the guys in the transmision section which way yours might be.
You might luck out and that be all that it is.
