Official 2006 Olympic Games Thread

Since the entire population of the United States is ignoring the upcoming Winter Olympics in Torino, I thought I would give it a little unofficial recognition. After all the Super Bowl is done, baseball is a couple months off. Still have college basketball though!

While I'm more of a fan of the Summer Olympics, I enjoy watching a little bobsled and curling. The ski jumping event is always impressive and crazy at the same time.

So what are your olympics events?

I've been waiting 4 years for the games. Going downhill at 80 mph on ice with a couple sticks under your feet? What a rush.

I like all the bobsledding and the skeleton - isn't that where the dude jumps on his belly sled and races head first down the bobsled course, that has to take some *****. The ski jumping is amazing to me. I guess the jumping in the Olympics isn't as amazing as the first real ljump those guys do, that has to be a rush. Also, how they control where there going in the air, its really unbeleivable. When I was a little kid my parents drove us by one of the BIG ski jumps somewhere in the rockies, it was huge. All the skiing stuff is cool.

My biggest rush and anticipation though is curling I mean WOW, those guys are athletes. Imagine the rush of pushing that rock down the lane and knowing you need to be on course. Or being one of the broom handlers in charge of cleaning a path..man thats intense!

HOCKEY!!!! Without a doubt. There won't be any NHL for 2 weeks, so I guess the olympics will do.

When I was in Austria last spring, we rode a converted bobsled down an olympic bobsled run driven by an ex pro, it was such a rush, over 65mph at some points and pretty intense.
