Heck, for thst kind of money...have Mom just buy the new one and then put the van on ebay. Guaranteed, you'll get more than you ever expected on ebay.

When I lived in NC, my wife and I wanted a nice economical car, we decided on a 97 Geo Prizm LSI with the 1.8l instead of the 1.6l and the auto as well. Wife believes cars should only come in Black so we had the dealer scrambling to find on in that config. (which wasn't easy...). In the meantime they gave us a like car but a nasty burnt orange color (think it was Peach Metallic mist or something like that). Lets just say it was fugly......
We had that car for like 2-3 weeks, even took it on vacation. Put like 1500 miles on it, every few days the dealer would call to say they "haven't found a black one yet, are you sure you don't want the one you have????" after several F No's.... she got the hint and we got our black one.

Almost felt bad putting all those miles on that car but we warned her we were going on a trip and told her in no uncertain terms we didn't want that particular car....

Most places have no problem letting you take the car for a day or two if they know you are really interested.

She wants to have the car for a weekend of driving to experiance it over a couple days or driving it to see is in fact she really wants to buy it or not. Most of the time we keep our cars and trucks a long time so this Mariner if she buys it will be kept around for at least 10 years if not more and a 15 minute test drive with one is not nearly enough time.

have you guys ever had a dealership let you take out a Brand new car for a weekend to see if you want to buy it or not??

No, it would not be considered used. To be considered used it has to be registered. Therefore, if you purchased the minivan you test drove your warranty would start at what ever miles was “originally” on it.

For example the minivan has 8 miles on it and you bring it back with 800 miles on it. The warranty starts at 8 miles and it is sold as a brand new minivan because it has never been registered.

If someone else purchases the minivan and it has 800 miles on it their warranty would start at 800 miles.

If that were the case dealers would allow nobody to test drive anything IF after a certain amount of miles the vehicle was considered used.

I asked the salesman if I could take the lincoln home.

He said, "Sure, just leave five Hamiltons on the desk."

I said, "uh, could I write you a check?"

Urban Cowboy, in Mountaineer's case, your initial response was correct . . .

If I'm not mistaken Mountaineer has taken his vehicle to the Lincoln Mercury dealer numerous times to have them address his many issues. They have witnessed first hand his paranoia and obsessive compulsive behavior. And they are probably well aware that he stops whenever he hears a noise and rips the interior apart.

Would you lend a car to that person (or anyone even remotely associated with that person) for a weekend?

And even if the dealer they are trying to get the vehicle from is not the same dealer he has been to, do you honestly think that Mountaineer's picture has not been distributed to every L/M dealer in North America along with a warning? I'd say it's a good bet there's a poster in every L/M management office with his picture on it:

WARNING! If you see this man, close the service department and lock all doors!!!!

UC, no need for a apology, thanks for the apology but it's not needed, it's okay! Trust me I say a lot of things I had no clue about too, we were both in the same boat! lol

The word '*****' is not on Steve's bad word list.
However, you have committed a crime by spelling it 'wh0re'.
This is an attempt to circumvent the bad word list.(even though the word isn't included)

It is best to just correctly spell your words and if it gets '****' out then make a note not to use the word in the future.
Deliberate misspellings of words is in violation of the sites terms of agreement.

Somehow, Mountaineer02V8 has got it in his head that seven out of ten words in the English language are on Steve's bad word list.
