Since I know that Mighty Whitey does every once in awhile peek in and see what's going on around here, I'm going to wait a couple days before I post much on this.

I will say this though. You all seem to know what the Bible says and doesn't say, but nobody seems to put any "stock" in it's authority. I love the statements in the line of, "Well, I don't think the Bible means this or that when it says this or that."

If you don't believe that the Bible is true, then why use it as a reference in refuting someone who wants to hold to it?

On this topic, the Bible (God) does condemn talking to ANY spirit other than God Himself. (This of course opens up the endless discussion of the roles of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, aka the Trinity.) I would side with your friends wife, although I'd show you why in the Scriptures instead of a hissy fit. But honestly, it should be your friend explaining it to you, and not her.

It's Sunday . . . am I allowed to write in a forum?

Whatever . . .

Let's review:

Not looking to start a religious or political war, and at the moment I would be rather pissed if anyone is immature enough to do so...

-----

His wife is quite finicky about what she will and won't watch, and what she will and won't let anyone else watch.

-----

. . . the show was over she walked past me and . . . she seemed rather pissed the rest of the evening.

-----

Well, this morning my friend was supposed to come over and help me move some stuff in the garage. He never called, or showed up.

-----

Said his wife was pissed, and [she] didn't want him to come over here.
-----

She didn't approve of the show last night,

----

has a problem with my fiance.

----

she told him I needed to come talk to her about it.

----

That's where I started to get pissed.

----

I told him if she's got a problem SHE needs to come to me,

not act all childish

and tell her husband he can't come over here.

----

It's her problem,

SHE needs to address it.

Yup . . . that about sums it up.

I feel sorry for the message boy husband while the two of you entrench yourselves and act childishly.

As for the bible quote about conversing with the dead, you don't seriously think that's the issue do you?

Carry on.

Anyone who tries to make contact with the dead is sinning. One of the reasons for this is the possibility of the contactor being influenced by demons. I do think that maybe your friend was too harsh. Deep down I think she was just trying to make you aware.

When you truly understand why you don't believe in any other religions...

...you'll understand why I don't believe in yours.

To the rest of us, it's just another fairy tale.

Actually I have studied all the other so called "religions". And every one but Christ teaches intolerance and/or racism. That's how I know.

every one teaches intolerance . . .

you KNOW this?

interesting.

Is closed mindedness un-Christian? How about ignorance? I'm just curious.

But let's assume your statement is correct . .

as for Christians, as long as they are TAUGHT to be tolerant, even if they don't practice tolerance . . . then what, they are still Christians?

Oh gosh. I'm so confused.

. . . so the intolerance demonstrated by some in the example we were given at the beginning of this thread would be un-Christian like behavior . . .

as would be talking to the dead . . .

so if someone could display their intolerance of an un-Christian like act with equally un-Christian like behavior . . . what does that mean? Do they cancel each other out?

So then everything between the parties is good, right?

Well, yes. If I'm interpreting what the christians in this thread are claiming. Everyone who participated in any aspect of the movie Ghostbusters would be doomed to a life burning in flames because a guy sitting in a chair up the sky didn't like it. (Apparently the Christian god created everything--but has a problem with some very petty things.)

So exactly who would burn in hell according to the christians?

1) The story writer
2) The director
3) The producer
4) The actors
5) The film crew
6) The theatre owners
7) The state (the state being the political state--for profiting from it)
8) The people who saw the movie.
9) The people who advertised the movie
10) The cartoon
11) The toy makers
12) whomever else.

I'm not exactly sure who would burn in hell, though I doubt Muslim fundamentalists would because I'm sure they believe talking to the dead will put you in hell too.

There's a standing $1 million reward for the demonstration of ANY psychic or paranormal ability. It remains unclaimed--for YEARS. Keep that in mind the next time you here a haunted house story, seance, or any old spook story.

It's an attempt to control you by taking advantage of irrational fears; Anything that educates a person to the irrationality is going to be frowned upon. You try to contact the dead; figure out it's all BS and dethrone the conmen--end of your irrational fear and more importantly--their ability to control you.

It's all about fear; Don't be caught dead without jesus! Really bad things will happen to you!

p.s. www.randi.org if you want to collect the $1 million reward.

" 'A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.' "
Leviticus 20:26-28 (in Context) Leviticus 20 (Whole Chapter)

" 'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 19:30-32 (in Context) Leviticus 19 (Whole Chapter)

He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced sorcery and divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger.
2 Kings 21:5-7 (in Context) 2 Kings 21 (Whole Chapter)

pl. mediums A person thought to have the power to communicate with the spirits of the dead or with agents of another world or dimension. Also called psychic.

I think maybe we get the point.

A true Christian would never condemn or judge, but only highlight what the Lord says in His word regarding a particular situation. This woman has perhaps taken it upon herself to judge.

God gave us all the information we need to live by His ways. Either you choose to follow Him, or you don't. You will have to live with that decision for eternity.

True Christians do not believe anyone is going to hell, only God can make that determination.

As long as there are Christians in Europe, we have a little extra time.
