I don't believe there's an adquate software solution. They would have put it in place long ago to end the argument. There's a nasty speed or scalability issue buried in there somewhere. I can almost guarantee it.

I'd argue they never did it before since they shouldn't have had to. They were going to settle with NTP and be done with all this. The cost of this potential change could be huge. And as we all know, big business doesn't like to spend money it doesn't have to. Shareholders are not to keep on doing stuff and blowing millions just for the hell of it. I'm not saying it would be a seemless cut-over, but I also don't think it would spell the end of the legendary BB service.
