That's true bighersh, hate doesn't discriminate. It's evident in all forms, all walks of life. And not just on the tube brought forth by the media. It's what we don't see that should scare people. An unseen cancer, but when it's on tv right before our eyes is when it gets blown out of proportion. Glad I'm just an average joe and not a yes man politician.

I think she's right. "Plantation" may not have been the right word; but she's right. If you have a dissentign view, your opinion will get squashed- or at least stepped on...

That's a very true statement. Never have I seen so many people brainwahsed and roped into group-think in my life...

Everybody wants to be a republican. You ask them why- and the standard answer is: "Because they believe what I believe." So I ask, "What do you believe?" Then they'll say, "Survival of the fittest."

They have no clue of what republicans stand for, and have stood for over the years. What their administrations have brought to the country. It's just the cool thing to be now-a-days.

How about this.

How about being a grown up, and not consigning yourself to either party, and being a free-thinking, American. How about making your decisions on the facts rather than on what everyone else thinks. How about not jumping on the "conservative" or "liberal" bandwagon.

Computers may be, 0 or 1, on or off, this or that, but human beings are not...

I don't know when we became fanatics in this country, but that s**t needs to stop.

Until I see a better candidate though (and as we have seen since 2000, there aren't any true leaders left in this country; not the kind that can endear themselves to the majority of the country) Hillary will have my vote, if she runs...

We need another Clinton in office!

I guess as Americans we can choose what we want. I choose conservatively. Does that make me a republican, no, but I vote republican most of the time. Others choose differently than me, and that's ok. If we were all the same this would be one boring country. Our differences make this country the greatest country in my opinion.

I like that idea. Anyway, the part i thought was funny is that Hillary probably forgot that the Demicans did the same thing in the House of Reps for the 40 so odd years before the Republocrats took it back. It's the nature of the House of Reps.

"Yes, Nagin is an idiot, but we don't have to go all the way to New Orleans to find idiotic statements... Just read some of the above posts and you'll see that the hate apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

It's not even necessarily a hate apple, man. Like I said earlier "The squeakiest wheel always gets the grease." Just so happens that blacks in Louisiana make a lot of squeaking. That is not a racist statement. That's 20 years of expirience. I believe that BigHersh will agree with me. I don't give a damn what color you are, so long as you're a decent person. But I do care that this racism thing has reached new heights of stupidity. I don't think you should get a scholarship or a job based on skin color, but abilities and performance. I realize that many blacks are under privilaged, but since coming into the service I have seen way too many that have picked themselves up by their bootstraps. I guess rappers represent what I hate the most. The lyrics, the bling bling, the inability to complete a sentence... All of it. I'm not saying they're all like that, but that's the image they've given themselves.
Anyway, this post was about New Orleans, and I'm not quite sure how we deviated from that. Here's the question: Do any of you have any real ideas on how to clean up the city and/or state? Don't respond if you're going to say "nuke it" or something equally stupid.

My good friend,

Conservatives know that all to well, more so then any liberal like Hillary. With all due respect, I have to disagree with you about Hillary being anywhere close to right with the racist buzz word of “plantation”.

She was simply playing to the black vote due to the threat of Rice’s probable run for the White House.

I would love to see Powel (sp?) run for office because he would have my vote. If not him then Rice would have my vote. Neither would have my vote because of the color of their skin but rather their integrity that Hillary is sadly missing

The problem with the current group of people in Washington is they still feel that the minority, not as in race, but liberals etc, should always be heard and that what they want should be what we get.

They seem to forget that majority, not as in race, trumps what the minority at the time may want. When they don’t get what they want they simply scream racist terms like “plantation”, like a spoiled child screaming in the middle of a store because they don’t get the toy they want.

However what is nice is usually the spoiled children in Washington get their butt spanked for acting like little morons. That is why there is fewer and fewer nut case liberals like Hillary and Kerry running around in Washington and you can tell the numbers are bound to get smaller by all the screaming and arm flinging of the “plantation” owners in Washington trying their best to take advantage of the minority vote…

Sure, move everyone/everything out, rebuild the levys to withstand the inevitable cat 5 hurricane accompanied with storm surge and devastating flooding, and while doing this tear down all irreparable buildings, then rebuild. All of which will take decades. Not done instantly, like how everything else seems expected in this country.

That's a perfect answer for a perfect world. It was hard enough to convincec everyone to leave when their lives were endangered. But I do agree with designing a cat-5 levee system, and bulldozing block after block of run down buildings.

Not to be racist here, but...God wants this to be a chocolate city, yet he kicked out 25k+ blacks and sent em to Texas!

Nagin said this because that is what the crowd wanted to hear, so I guess when David Duke's birthday rolls around, we will have Nagin come speak at a white-majority press conference. Let's see what he says then?

He makes me sick to say I am from New Orleans.

America had Apartheid till the mid 60's so what can you expect?
The sooner everybody (from all races) follows MLK's advice and judges a man NOT by the colour of his skin, the world will be a better place.
