Ford 390 Crank

Hey guys and gals,

I'm looking for a ford 390 stock crank. I would prefer it to be a new unit. Any ideas as to where to look? It seems to be a rare item.

Thanks in adavance.

Zap,

A buddy of mine is looking for a stock one to change a 360 over to a 390. He thought he had a 390, ran the numbers, they came back 390 but the micrometer doesn't lie. It's a 360. He would like it to be a stock cast 390 but might go for a mild performance unit. I checked summit and jegs and they don't have any listings for the 390's. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

WV

the 360 is rarer than the 390...would a 400 crank fit in a 390?

No the 400 is different.

I think when it comes to trucks the 360 was more plentiful.

I think the 400 is a different series engine than the 360, 390, 428 line. I think the 352 is also in that line. He has two complete 352's and a 360. The 352's are for sale. If anyone in the north central part of WV or that area is interested I could put you in contact with him.

thanks again,

WV

the 390 was in the mustang and T-bird, F-150 of the day, odd that a replacement crank can't be found...

I know that this will sound odd, but look up the Kawasaki Dealer in Goodland, Kansas. The man that runs the store is a total redneck, but they have a gazillion cranks that they have pulled from all types of motors over the years. Some are relatively fresh ground, and other have about a 1/4" of dust on them from sitting around so long. It might be worth a shot.

I'm not for sure, but I think the name of the store is Kawasaki West of Kansas.

I just did a 390 for my Mach, and it's a heck of a machine. Good luck with your buddy's!

Thanks for the replys and keep them coming. We are still looking for a solution. Yes even as much as they were used, it is tough to find parts. I can't even seem to land my hands on an aftermarket one. Lots of stuff for the 302's and 351's but nothing for the 390's. By the way, he and my brother are doing a ground up rebuild- restoration on his 76 F-150 4x4. Last time I saw it the diffs were sitting under the frame still not attached but ready to go.

The search continues.....

Also, the 332, the 427, plus some truck engines in the 500s

I have a toploader tranny from a 1965 390 fairlane and a 1977 351M motor i am getting rid of. I know this doesnt help with your 390 crank search, but i figure i would post it incase you need a tranny
