I haven't been in a wheel shop in a long time but I think you should be able to find those centers pretty easily. I know that having things chromed is not exactly cheap on this end of the state.
They would actually be coming to that end of the state for chrome... more specifically, Madisonville.

I think I may attempt to find a comprable replacement for the wheels before I default to blast and spray.

Thanks again, fellas (and ladies)!

HEY! It's (probably) my future P-Shop design guy! (FYI: my buddy is floppying on his design).

Haven't really thought about a name for her... I'd certainly be open to suggestions.

The sticker kit is part of the 'Free-Wheeling' package which was a factory option... not sure if I could play on that or what. Any suggestions for a name?

I'm not positive but, I think that they're American Racing wheels. The center caps, however, I don't think are AR. I think they were made to fit on there.

My father says that this thing had a set of 'odd' rims on it when he bought them and that he came up with this set (which looks nearly stock) and had to figure out how to make the center caps work. I mean, I could get them rechromed but, I'd rather buy new... and have these wheels powder coated.
Once upon a time you could get them at Wal-Mart. I bought a set just like that for my '79 F150 4x4 around 1990. Ditch the wheels unless you can get a good powder coat job. My AR wheels rusted in after about two days of my dog peeing on them.

PS. Did I mention I'm totally jealous?

Thanks, Grim!

There's actually a FANTASTIC powder coat guy about 2 miles down the road from my house. He will be the one that gets the job if and when I decide to go that route.

I still need to find centers... I don't think WallyHell is an option any longer -- maybe they are though?

If I had more specifics about these wheels then I think I'd have more to go on. As it is, I know NOTHING about what brand that they are -- I'm calling them American Racing simply because that's what my dad originally thought they were. He told me that, even back in the early 80's, he had trouble findiing centers for this particular wheel... he claims it's an oddball.

Any clue on how I can determine brand/spec on this set of OLD wheels?

I really dont think they are American Racing brand.

AR has a red and blue pin strip that runs around the bead and has a star point spoke design.

Like this

Yours dont have the stripes (which could have been removed and or painted over) but also is not a star point.

edited to add:
I am ashamed that I know them that well, but I was a poor boy.

In all honesty and no jokes here.....

Get you calipers out and measure thier diameter..... I'm assuming the OD.
Of it's either 3.25", 4.25", 4.90" or 5.15" go here....

Anyone know the proper way to measure them? OD? ID? No calipers here but, I've got a steady hand and a Stanley tape. LOL!

Should be the 5+, Those wheels have the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern And those wheels look to be factory ford rims from a 82-91 truck painted white from the shape of the openings.

Lets see... Going by this classic photo it looks like the center caps are black, have a red center and just on the back...

Ford also offered a "Free-Wheelin" package on both the Custom & the Ranger XLT that featured tri-color striping, black bumpers, black low mount western-style mirrors, sport steering wheel, special glove box appliqué, and custom wheels.

Here is a ''Freewheelin'' video from 1978...

I almost bought one like this back in the early 90's:

The motor needed some TLC so it was going to wind up being more than I wanted to drop into one at the time.

Ryan... you *are* the man. That commercial is one of the coolest things I've seen! LOL!

I hope I can stumble across a set of these in a salvage yard... *sighs* Time to start hounding the Bronco boards.

Thanks again to everyone for all of the help!

I know more than a few Ford fiends in my neck of the woods. I'll make some calls whenever I get caught up at the shop.
