Project: 1978 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT
A few new Bronco pics...
The Bronco has been washed TWICE and waxed once since 1993. Yes, 1993.
Both washes and the single wax job have come in the past 6 months.
As of yet, I have done NOTHING to it. I am trying to find center caps for these goofy wheels -- which is prooving to be IMPOSSIBLE....
Anwyays... on with the pics!

It actually does look pretty good but, the pics definitely conceal some key things...
For one, the paint is 'crackled' in a few spots on the hood and pass side. Of course, it's single stage paint... it'd be impossible to buff out everything as the crackles seem to go pretty deep (like to the base coat (which is black)).
Two, there are some small spots of rust. Only a couple though.
Third, the fiberglass topper is pretty oxidized. I may try to get after it with something to attempt to cut it out but, I'm a little nervous about working on it as that paint is THIN THIN THIN THIN THIN.
The interior carpet needs some loving. The driver's seat has a slight pull in the vinyl. The dash is a little faded. Both sunvisors are there but the little bar that holds them in place are both broken. Those aren't factory wheels (although, I'm hunting). The centercaps look horrible... as do the wheels (rust). There are several 'dings' (anyone know if the paintless dent removal guys remove dings on single stage paint?). Lots of rock chips on the front end....
Really though, all in all, it's strong. For a 1978 that sat outside for the better portion of it's 30-year life, it's in GREAT shape. 68K on the ticker now.
I'm driving it on occasion and getting some stange looks... some laughs.... and even a few nods from some of the folks that think it's kind of cool. It's smack dab out of the 70's and unique -- I think that's why I like it.

Oh yeah... it has NO muffler system. None. LOL... it sounds like the world is going to end when that 351 cranks up.
I checked in to what it'd cost to smack 'something' on there and, let's just say that I'm going to leave it as is for a while.

Mufflers were invented by the devil.
Looks good. I do miss that style of truck. My first was a 78 F150. With those same stripes, but for the pickup. For the fiberglass, you might look into the special paints they have now for boats. They might be what you need to get a good shine. If the top is very bad, it could mean the gel-coat is pretty much gone and a recoat is about the only way to go, but I don't think you can just re gel-coat fiberglass. I think you have to paint it with something else.
