Yeah, I graduated from HS in May and that is what all the computers used at school, Microsoft Anti Spyware. Its just that we have a paid subscription for Spy Sweeper, got it in September and it expires September 2006.

Yes M$ anti-spyware does a good job, it does ignore a couple of things, including the ALEXA spyware that comes ON the windows XP cd, straight from Micro$oft.

Also avoid: Ad-Aware. They are being paid by ad companies to ignore certain software

I Trust: BulletProof Spyware Remover

In over 5 years of being online, you are the first person I've ever heard make that claim about Ad-Aware specifically. They built their reputation on being pro-consumer . Forgive me if I think you are either a liar or sadly mistaken. I've also never heard of your 'bulletproof' spyware remover. Do you work for them?

I agree with you. I never heard of such non-sence before in my life

I have been using Norton Internet Securities for a year now and haven't had a problem or any spy wear infections. i do also run the Microsoft anti spywear. My year is up at the end of the month and i will definitely renew the subscription.

Before Norton i had Mcafee and ad-aware and had alot of problems and lost everything on my puter. Norton is working great and worth every penny.

I just put Norton Internet Security on mine last weekend, and it sucks so far, the only way i can get to several of the other forums i frequent is to disable it. Otherwise i get a page that starts to load and then just keeps refreshing but with out giving you a chance to do anything, or it will give me the page not found screen. Disable it and no problem. Had Norton AV and upgraded this year, think i screwed up.

Well in this case he is correct....or at least was and certainly not a liar. They were caught delisting software clearly defined as adware as was Microsoft. If you trust any one vendor to remove adaware you are leaving yourself open to "infections"

You get the idea from these links...you can google lavasoft ad-aware trust if you want to look deeper.

You might want to be careful with the ad blocking. I've been running it for years with no problems

Dave, the two sites you indicated are forums powered by vBulletin and Infopop, respectively. I've run NIS for several years and opened both sites without a problem. I do remember when I first got it I had to tweak some settings. Been so long I can't remember though.

OH, be aware that your ad blocker is programmed to allow ads from certain sites that have paid Symantec to be excluded. Go to your Web Contents Options and check the options for each website they have pre-loaded. Everything with a green 'allow' symbol, delete it. You can also use that page to block ads not picked up by the ad blocker. I've been able to fine tune mine to block virtually every ad on all my regular websites (except this one, of course. I looooove all the obnoxious, flashing, page-shrinking ads here).
