Miniature Dachshund. All of the qualities your looking for in a smal, practically non sheeding, non "dog smell" package!

Yeh, well I would love for her to get a Lab...I have one and so does my brother and they are both awesome with the kids, smart, loyal and just fun to be with. Oh yeh...And Caine thinks hes a lap dog at times....100+lbs, is no loap dog to me..

But its her decision and she's gonna get what she wants. I'm just trying to help out with some suggestions and of course be the nice guy I am, and buy it for her.

Justin..Caine thinks Bailey is cute and whants to meet her

non "dog smell"?? Are you kidding??!! I had a friend that had a Dachshund and it was the doggie smellingest dog I've ever been around. For a tiny dog it smelled like it was a Great Dane or something!!

I'l say it again.........

You are describing a Jack Russell Terrier.

At least go and check one out, before deciding.

The dog (Eddie) Dr. Frasier Crane had on the TV show "Frasier" was a JRT.

I can't see ever owning another breed after having a Rat. They are smart, they don't yap, and if you train them to be kennel dogs, they are never a problem. Great with the kids, and my little 14lb. dog hit the top of my 6' privacy fence in one jump when going after squirrels. (Sorry Rocky.)

By far the smartest breed I've ever seen too.
I agree totally. As you can see in my sig, Maggie is a big part of our lives. If not a Rat, I would do the rescue bit from the Humane Society. Better still, rescue a Rat.

I don't know too much about the Jack Russell Terrier's. The only one I've ever been around was a bad barker though, is that not the norm? They are adorable dogs and although they seem to be a bit hyper they also seem to be highly intelligent.
