New Tape Drive...

Well....Came into work this morning and noticed that our backups have finally reached a point in which they will no longer fit on the tapes.....so.....I just got done ordering a HP Ultrium 448 Tape Drive (200/400GB).....should be here in a few days......now all I need to do is figure out what I could get for my HP 40/80 DLT drive on eBay.....

Well.....my case was definitely supported with the fact that my workstation crapped out on me on Christmas.....and all the data I had for the three years I have been here was saved to the server....thus saved in general......and now that others here are placing their data on the server....I had a pretty easy case to make for an upgrade.....

The reason for our upgrade is because the CEO bought a Smartphone that is only fully utilized in conjunction with Exchange 2003... After we get his working, my boss and several other key players, along with myself will be getting the same phones... Sprint PPC-6700's

Funny what drives IT purchases sometimes, huh...

We just installed(this past Summer) a 1 Terabyte Virtual backup system from Cybernetics. So far so good. We offload 1 week of data at a time for a physical backup incase the Virtuals ever crap out. It's an awsome system to play with.

Kids these days. It's an oversized cassette tape which is used to backup Data. The tape drives backup way more data than a CD or DVD.
