photographers and video people

two questions for yall:

1) what is a good website that allows you to post still pictures and let others rate your photos. some kind of forum designed to post and discuss your work.

2) for video, i have been looking at a few different cameras. i seem to be set on a canon but i am open to sugestions. just so you know what i will be using the camera for: i will soon be a film student a colorado university at boulder. the camera would not be entirely for school. I would like to make shorts and other other films for personal use and practice. i am looking to eventually get into the film making industry, but for now i would just like to play and learn the ropes. BUT, i would like to get a camera that i could grow into...i want to make a purchase that i will not grow out of in a year or two.

i have been looking at the cannon XL2...what do you guys think of this camera? where do you think i could find the best price for it. everything i have read said cannon beats out sony dollar for dollar...but let me know what you think. any advice would be great. thanks a lot.

http://www.pbase.com is a very popular site for sharing photos.

The Canon XL2 is an amazing tool that will be hard to outgrow. When it comes to video you can't beat Canon with anything. http://www.bhphotovideo.com has the XL2 for somewhere between $3500 and $4000. Can't remember for sure. I was looking at getting one myself but decided I wanted a new digital camera, and a new lens instead.

I dont use a camera enough to justify spending that much on one. I only use it on vacation and around town. I went with the Panasonic GS-65 (the 3CCD camera) and it does a good job for me.

here is an example vid... the quality has been reduced A LOT so it would be a smaller file size to host on the internet.

Cannon and Sony are my best picks.. whatever cam you get, make sure you can easily adjust the focus MANUALLY. Some cams are retared and require you to use the touch screen to focus and sometimes have to go through a menu to get to it.

edit: typo
