Hey man, what's your thought on Damon going over to the "Dark Side"?...........

I hate the Yankees. Hopefully it turns out like the past few years, all that talent and no ring to show for it, but I guess 26 is nothing to laugh at.

I think this is the greatest "move" of all time.....only because it is one of the greatest "burns" of all time.....

Damon promised the Red Sox Nation that he would NEVER play for the enemy.....now he took a 4yr $52mil dollar deal to play for them.....3 years shy of the deal that he wanted.....

...talk about a sell out.....what good is a man if is word is no good....

I am not a fan of either of the two teams...mainly because I feel that their fans are some of the rudest in baseball.....and in my opinion, the fans make the team....not the players....

On another note......I just read that the Yankees were hit with a $34mil luxury tax for having a payroll higher than MLB allows.....

.....That my friends is what makes that team corporate and not a team that adds to the atmosphere of the game.....most all the teams in the league would love to have that $34mil of use for their payrolls....and yet this "tax" is not even going to phase 'ole George.....

I have to say that I think the Red Sox fans are more loyal than Yankee fans. Yankee fans have no idea what it's like to loose, but the Sox certainly do. Here in VA, you see Yankee fans and gear come and go, depending on how they are doing, but never see any Red Sox fans or Card fans even though they are winners, well maybe not the Cards… I think the Yankee organization has allot more "Band Wagoner" fans than any other team. When they are winning, everybody is a fan, but when they loosing, you can't find a fan anywhere.

Don't get me wrong, I think they have great talent and as individual players I like them all, but as a team I could care less.

I think Damon should have announced his decision to go to NY AFTER he cleaned his house out in Boston.. and maybe Boston should have taken his potential departure more seriously. Hell, they gave Veritek a $40 mil deal, and I think Damon is far better than he is.

cough salary cap, cough...

That's one of the big problems with MLB, if you can afford a payroll that high in the first place the luxury tax isn't going to phase you. Eventually they'll have to level the playing field.

Damn straight, they think they are entitled to Championships, like the rest of the league should just roll over in October and give it to them. Back before MLB disgusted me to the point of no return I was a Phillies fan, I used to go to a lot of games with my grandfather, great soft pretzels... Stupid strike, now I'm disillusioned forever.

I think the Fans can level the playing field by supporting their teams. I have to say in the NY area that the fans are consistant. That's why they can afford to spend that kind of money. They sell out whether they are on top or in the gutter. Take the Marlins for example, they have two Rings in recent years and are in danger of loosing their team because the fans won't support them, and in turn no money for better players. Granted I am not a NY fan, but I have to give the local NY fans credit, they DO support their team. Outside of NY it's the "Band Wagon" fans I hate.

Fan support can only take you so far is smaller markets. I know that if revenue sharing the the salary cap were gone from the NFL, teams like my Buffalo Bills would be SOL and moved to LA in half a second. It's not just MLB, the Detroit Red Wings were all but buying the Stanley Cup a few years ago.
